Are you still not seeing spots?

He's done well so far, he's caught 3 reds right around the house in just a few traps. The weather hasn't been doing him any favors either.

His small water line is still producing a little fur each night.

He pulled his land traps, it is a muddy mess here right now and we needed to move to a new area too.

No spots, just stripes.

I have a Coyote (or two?) working a Deer carcass so I hung some snares yesterday. There's trails everywhere and no snow so I'm just guessing where they're coming from.
Maybe I'll get lucky though.

We're finally getting some night time temps down around zero so I'm hoping that'll get those old Tom Cats up and moving.

I've never done any water trapping. Looks fun.
I bet your boy's having a ball.

Stay after em.

Hopefully you will connect on a cat or coyote soon. It's going to take another day before things dry up enough for us to set some footholds but the water line is still producing. The same 2 traps he got the beaver and muskrat in 2 nights ago produced again last night.

Trapped a ton of rats years past most all the old places are gone along with the rats. I do fox coon and yotes but still miss the old rat line.

Thanks 1min.
He is doing well, and taking responsibility and doing most of it himself.
My sister shot a red coyote while deer hunting yesterday and gave it to him to add to his fur this year. He has 4 reds, 1 gray, 6 mrats, 2 beaver, the coyote and 10 coon so far. We are hopeful that fur prices will come up some and make it worth his time.

It will be worth his time to have learned much more about nature and himself!

Here's the blonde/red coyote my sister gave him. The picture makes it look small but it was a large male. I don't know what the buyer will offer for it because of the off color but if nothing else we'll get it tanned and hang it on the wall.
