obviously I mean no disrespect to the SWFA 6x42 guys.

I just think a variable is more versatile and it's lighter weight

plus I believe you can get a turret for the Vortex

just having fun with this

Both look like good scopes however, IMO, both are way too heavy for a rimfire rifle unless you're a static hunter.

Perfect is in the eye of the beholder. I squirrel hunt with my .22s. Big, bulky, heavy scopes are a PITA in the squirrel woods. The majority of my shooting is at 4x or lower. YMMV wink

My 452 wears a(now discontinued) Weaver Classic K2.5...My 10/22 is sporting a K4. I don't know about perfect, but I'm not changing either.

There is a perfect rimfire scope and it was made by Leupold - the Compact 6X with AO laugh I have never found a better hunting/sporter rifle scope and all my hunting (tree rat rifles) .22s wear one with the Leupold Dot reticle - of course that is just my opinion wink

Not for $500 ...

I'll still take a VX-2 3-9x AO not much better for a spotter

+1. That and the 3.5 - 10 x 40 AO are prolly my 2 favorites for rimfires.

Being serious, I did find a picture of the CZ with that same scope, where it now resides without the sunshade. 3 Bushnell Elites top to bottom: 8-32X, 6-24X, & 4-16X, all 40 mm.

I hunt with a Winchester 52R, it is a Zanders heavy barrel gun, I am using a Leupold 4.5 x 14 ,40 AO with fine X duplex. The rig has a big gun ,heavy feel but I shoot it very well off hand. I usually nail my tree rat before the to heavy sets in! I love the rig and it will be with me to the end. very best WinPoor

Never used a Vortex. Do have a Leupold VX-2 Rimfire scope on my NULA Model 20 .22LR which I was satisfied with until I tried the Meopta 3-9R/M. I have since ordered a Meopta. Kindest regards.

Looks pretty neat but at a MSRP of nearly $500.....I'd have to go with the VX2-EFR's as well. A cheaper alternative to that is the Nikon Prostaff Target EFR - Nice scope for $180.

You can focus down to (10) yards, reap more adjustment on the windshield, than the entire POS 8-32X has top to bottom and have 180MOA+ total to throw in the mix. Hint.

[Linked Image]

Less touching anything and if wishing to rock Retrostalgic, one could zero and drive 15 Mils of elevation subtension(which from a 50yd zero will grant 350yds of immediate opportunity on a 22LR(40AE's at 1290/sealevel). Yes...I realize how many light years, that flies over your pointy head.

Easy to arrange inclination on OEM 10/22's and the various dupes, whether integral or D&T'd.

Help is available. Modern treatment for serious attention seeking psychiatric disorders, such as you obviously have, doesn't necessarily include a frontal lobotomy.

There is nothing to fear except fear itself, so I urge you to seek the help you so desperately need, as soon as possible. However, before proceeding with your treatment, please check your medical insurance cover because it will take some time and be very expensive.

That's OK, my Voelker 40X, Annie 54, various 541's and Win 52 suit me just fine. Besides, what does owning nice equipment have to do with acting like an @$$ hole and being rude to people?

Edited to add: I just went and looked at some of his prior posts. Whoo boy! eek

They aren't to bright then because everyone knows where he lives and works.

You don't have to like him. But he has a boatload of real world knowledge. If you took the time to listen I am sure you would learn a thing or two from him.

I don't glorify people who talk down to others just because they happen to own cool toys. You feel free to if you want to though. By the way, not "everyone" knows where he works or lives. After reading his nonsensical ramblings I'm not sure many want to know either. . .

I am not glorifying him. I admit he can be brash. I don't judge him not my job. I dam surely haven't walked a mile in his shoes. But like anyone else that has good solid information to offer I listen.

People are entitled to choose an opinion but picking facts is quite a bit more prone to hazard. Fella might not like the message framed in facts, but right here facts are steppin' on fantasy's crank pretty hard.

If you can man up your feelers when Boxer knocks on the door you might learn a thing or two. OTOH, it is a free country etc.

Don't know how "perfect" they are but my favorite two are the older 1" tube 4.5-14 Leupold VERI-X-III and the Shepherd P310 3.5-10.

I have the 4.5-14 on a CZ452 17" and Shepherds on a 452 Vaarmint .22 Magnum, a 453 Varmint .22LR and a Kimber .22.

453 with Shepherd...

Different rifles, different scopes.

CZ 452 FS Leupold 2-7x28
Marlin 917M2S Weaver V16 4-16x42AO
Remington 37 Lyman Targetspot 30x
Remington 541 T Sightron S1 4-12x40AO
Winchester 52 Redfield 3200 20x
Winchester 52 Sporter Leupold Alaskan 4x and 6x.

Price wise, the Sightron S1 4-12x40AO for under $150 is hard to beat. Right now, the Weaver V16 4-12x42AO for $210 from Natchez is awfully hard to ignore.

I thought about the 4-16 v16 from Natchez but just ordered the 3-9x38 V9. I was in a store yesterday and this scope is extremely clear. Looked clearer to me than a Zeiss Terra looking across a field close to dark. They had a 3-10 classic and a 4-16 Buck Commander. Both of those scopes had extreme tunneling, as bad as I've ever seen. Do the V-16's do that?

I think it comes pretty close, amigo!

I do not need any significant elevation adjustment or turrets on my 22 rimfire scopes. If something is further out that 50 yards, I grab a different rifle. Typically have a couple of different centerfires handy while out shooting range rodents. For a 22LR, Having the ability to set the parralax and focus correctly for the close shooting done with them is pretty critical. Low X variable power, light weight, simple, and able to mount them close to the barrel and reciever all are good things and that scope seems to have all the right features. Perfect? Maybe not, but really close for most 22LR users. My 22LR has a Leupold Rimfire 2-7 atop it which works great FOR MY PURPOSES i.e. small rodents and paper out to 25 yards, period. For 25-100 yards, The 22WMR has an old Weaver V-9 A/O that is more than good enough for its uses. Past the easy hit and sure kill range for those and I am reaching for the 222, 223 or fast twist 220 Swift etc. depending.

I agree wholeheartedly that having good stuff or MAYBE above average knowledge of shooting does not qualify one to talk down to others in the sport. NOTHING gives a human being that right. Nothing at all, ever, period. Nor does having some good toys and some knowledge give license to act like some kind of all knowing but irracsible and antagonistic Guru. Boorish behaviour is just that.
