Had one in a 350 mag also........definitely a hard hitter on the shoulder.

A simple stock change to the m7 and its a serious contender.

yep. mebbe Remington addressed that this time around.

I owned a 18.5" wood stocked 7-08 back in the 90's, it was a tough one load for, I finally found 150 BT's worked well.

The Mountain Rifle felt so much better but it does not make sense that an additional 2" of barrel (probably 2 ounces) on the front end and a little more weight behind the action screw would make a difference.

My Model 7 went from a so so rifle because of the crap factory plastic to a wonderful little gem dropped in a Brown FS. Can't say how much I love that little rifle now and talk about a dream to carry through the woods.

I used it this past Nov in MN to take this buck on a bitter cold morning while still hunting.




Next to a Mtn. Guide - same caliber (7mm-08). I love that Mtn. Guide as well, but if forced to choose the Mtn. Guide would go and the Model 7 would stay.

From what I understand the early 7KS would feed factory 200s just fine but not reloads. I have a later one and it feeds everything 100%.

As to recoil...never notice it when hunting and just try staying off the bench once it is sighted in. Wrapped up in a sling sitting it is no worse than a .308...

This is great news on the comback to the SS M7. On the way home from the range yesterday I was just thinking what DumbA$$s Remington was to discontinue that version. I have two .308s and had a .260 that I never fired as someone wanted a lot more than me so I sold it.

A SS .350 RM is my dream rifle. The Custom shop made two 7KS in stainless...I saw one of them sell on GunBroker for $2650.00...

They are also bringing back the blued Seven LS with the brown laminated stock.

Any offical info on this yet?

I picked up a Model 7 SS in 260 and dropped it into a Model 7 laminated stock. I really like the ss and wood look and of course the wood stock is a much better platform than those crappy plastic stocks! I want to do some load development for the rifle over the winter and get it out to the range this spring. Going to try 120 grain TTSX and see how they group for me.

It isn't on their site yet. But, the rifle is in the 2015 catalog which is on the site. .223, .243, .260, 7mm-08, .308, and .300 WSM

Looks like msrp is the same as the stainless sps so should be around $650 street price.

I would guess the recoil in 300WSM will be severe in this model.

I'm assuming most of the negative feedback about these little gems is that you have one less hole for a Talley mount, and a Tupperware stock? I have owned no less than 5 blued and stainless. I currently have 3 chambered in .260 and if I do my part they all go MOA. Considering what they are and what their intended use is they are hard to beat. I already told my FFL to bring in another .260 and a .223 for me. Wonder if the 9 twist .223 would handle being improved to push 75's...hhmm?

I sure hope that the 223 is really a 9 twist as listed, but they have messed that up before also (e.g. the Predator version).

I hope that Remington has the quality control issues corrected. I love the Model 7 and have two rifles built on the Model 7 action. Both started life as a 308. Now, one is a 338 Fed and the other is a 260. The front of both actions looked like they had been cut with a chop saw. The bolt faces scrubbed on the back of the barrels and the ends of the bolt lugs rubbed on the action walls. They were a mess and would only shoot what I would consider to be an improved cylinder pattern. It is just a shame that it took so much work to get them shooting like they should.

I know that others have had better experiences with the Model 7 and the problems I had with mine could have been just the luck of the draw. I didn't buy them for what they were, though. I bought them for what I wanted them to be and would do it again in a second. I think one in 223 Remington would fill my last Remington Model 7 niche. Well...maybe one in 35 Remington would be a good addition too.

The newer Model 7s had 2 rear screw holes, just the early ones only had 1.

That's what cracks me up about the ridiculous prices people pay for some of the discontinued model guns made by Remington, Marlin, and several others. There's nothing to stop the manufacturer from resuming production tomorrow on any of them.
