Just bought a Remington 710 Youth Mod. .243 to use for bad weather and to have for an extra rifle at the deer camp. I usually have to have stock cut down to a lop of 13 inches, but this 12 3/8 seemed to fit ok. Walmart wanted $334.88 for it. It does have some stamped out metal parts, but after sighting it in I'll probably only shoot it 2 or 3 times a year so I'll probably be worn out before it is. The good folks over at Bass Pro had it on sale? for $349.95.

too much money for too little. you'd been way better off to buy a used remmy 700 - for $300 or fewer clams.
trade-in and re-sale on the 710 is nil.

Not to mention the 710 seems like a problem waiting to happen. Have not heard anything good about it. But if it works for you than more power to ya!

My buddy bought one and it chitt the bed twice.Once was a recall the other when the stock broke. It's a 270 Win.I will say it shoot's good.
Myself on a lower end gun would go with Savage.I have yet to see one that wouldn't shoot.

My Remington 710 in 30-06 shoots acceptable hunting groups with a variety of factory ammo and I picked it up as a loaner/camp rifle for a $210. I did swap the POS scope for a Nikon ProStaff, but for a knock-about rifle, I don't see any particular problems with the 710.

Thanks for the reply 260Rem, by the way if this .243 falls apart I can always get my Browning Lowwall .260 with the Nikon Monarch 3x9 out.

you sold me a Savage 11 in 260 and kept a 710? sometimes i dont understand you Jeff <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

personally i would take one of the Stevens over one of the 710's. did not care for the feel of the 710 i can deal with a Stevens/Savage

Well, it goes like this. I still have a Savage 11 F in 260, I had 2 and sold you 1, plus I still have another 15 260s to go to if I need 1.

I guess that I'm in the minority, but I really don't care for any of the Savage 110 series of rifles. However, I think that I would opt for a Stevens 200 over a Remington 710 if given that choice. Actually, I had gone to the gunshop, Rody's in Guild, NH, to buy an older Savage 110C in 30-06, but decided to buy the Remington 710 and give it a try, since so many people were writing about what a POS it was. This particular Remington 710 has worked well for me and the guys who I have loaned it to have been able to fill their deer tags with it. It would fall somewhere south of my 200th choice if I had to pick 1 rifle to hunt with, but if it was the only choice, I'm confident that this rifle will shoot a variety of 30-06 factory ammo into 2 MOA groups.
