Scope and rings finally arrived for my new Ruger. It's an FX-1 4X Rimfire. I had to use the forward dovetail on the rear mount to avoid the eyepiece threads. Good thing this thing has 4.5 inches of eye relief or I wouldn't be able to use it.

Sharp looking little rifle!

Yeah, I've had that problem with rimfire scopes. The 77/22 has a very very long action for a rimfire. I could not make the 2-7X and 3-9X Leupold compact RF specials work on my 77/17 so I got rid of them and replaced them with a 4-12X Vari X II FD/AO. I'm pretty happy with that setup. Lot of scope for a rimfire ... but it's a lot of rimfire. smile

Nice looking setup you have there. Looks balanced.

Thanks, all. I settled on the scope after a lot of ruminating. It came down to this one or a 1-4 ML scope ( for the parallax setting). I have a very accurate CZ with a 3-9 EFR on it and wanted a walking around setup. Didn't want the scope to overpower the rifle.

So far, I've only shot it in the basement to sight it in. When I get a decent day,
I'll head to the range with a bunch of ammo to see what it prefers.

man that is nice looking! when those RSI's first came out i found one for sale but ran into an issue with the ffl i normally used. he would not do a transfer on a "New" firearm, only older used firearms. i ended up loosing that rifle and haven't ran across another one for sale since.

i don't have a gunbroker account but i might just have to set one up some day. right now my next purchase in the near future is going to be a shotgun for my youngest (15 yr) son. then i'll pick up a new toy for me when the funds get replenished. i've got two M77/22's one SS in walnut and one blue/walnut. a M77/22 RSI SS will look really nice along side of my M77/22 SS/walnut i already have. i have two M77 Mark II's in SS that i also dropped into walnut. i do like the Rugers.

Thanks.

Now it's got me wondering if one of these stocks could be fitted to a 77/357 or 77/44.

i know the rimfire stock will not fit the centerfire hornet, and i don't believe it will fit the pistol caliber model either.

BTW will someone get out and shoot that RSI and let us know how it does!

Too dang windy here for serious shooting or even squirrels. Nobody wants to see this puppy in action more than me.

I like that set-up Pappy!!! I may go that route too. I just removed the vintage Leupold 3x with CPC reticle from my 358Win last week and installed it on my 22Mag RSI. Going to hit the range with it on Thursday, so we'll see if it gets to stay on it or not.

Pappy... Get out there and shoot that bad boy!!! I think you'll be happy with the accuracy of these little RSI's.

Took mine out today and only got to shoot one load to 50yds, but preliminary results with the fixed 3x are above satisfactory and I think you'll likely have even better results with your newer/clearer scope! Unfortunately, no pictures, but after a quick zeroing, I was easily shooting under 3/4" 5-shot groups with CCI Maxi-Mag +V. I was helping too many other guys get their rigs dialed in to really concentrate on this 22 today, but I'll try and get out next week with 5 more flavors of ammo and see what it REALLY likes.

More than anything.... this little rifle is a HOOT!!!

Just back from my first range session with the new Ruger. RWS SS HPs, Eley H.S. HPs, and Green Tag all averaged about 3/4" for three, 5-shot groups at 50 yards, which I think is okay for me using a 4x scope in a wintry drizzle. My 10 yard basement sight-in was apparently okay, putting SS stuff about 1/2" high. HS stuff went about 2" high and CCI Quiet .22s about 2" low. Everything was pretty well-centered, except the Green Tag, which landed about 1/2" to the right for some reason.

I'm good for now, with about a week of squirrel season left. I"ll get back to it, maybe with a little more scope, when the weather breaks.

Good Review Pappy... sounds like the accuracy is pretty consistent, at least between these two samples. Thanks for the follow up report!

I need to fiddle the trigger a bit more. There's some creep at times that caused me to lose a few here and there. My gunsmith suggested I stone it a bit and if that doesn't get rid of it, there's always the Timney, which gave me a light, crisp pull on a Target model belonging to my son.

Hey Pappy,

I just took my RSI out again today with 5 different loads and shot a 5 shot group with each load at 100yds. I agree 100% on the trigger, and I think with a little lightening I can get the CCI Maxi-Mag TMJ stuff to shoot even better.

The Hornady V-Max and PMC Predator loads shot the same as each other with about a 1.75" group and the CCI+V that I shoot last week and thought would do well opened waaay up at 100yds. The worst stuff of the day was the Winchester Supreme HP's. I haven't been able to get them to shoot well out of anything I've tried them in and will probably just use the rest of them up for the initial fouling shots from here on out.

Here's the target for the TMJ's and the Leupold 3X M-8 scope...

I'm REALLY liking this little RSI!!!

Keep us posted when you get your trigger lightened!!!
