Saw one today at a gun show. Never actually fondled one before. It was for sure something I would have bought if I would have had the money. It was even the 24" barreled model. No Navy markings.

Anybody own one of these classics?

Aren't many of them around. I've never seen one.

That was the first and only one I have seen. Went back and held it 3 times. It was tough leaving it there.

It was a 24" barrel 30-06. So not the 720A. About 85-90% condition. Asking price was,...I'm tearing up here, $970.

I would have had a very difficult time leaving it behind....

My only difficulty was a thin wallet.

24" Barrel, no Navy markings, and a $970.00 price of admission? I wouldn't have left it behind. I reckon I'm not as strong-willed as some.....

I woulda skinned my wallet out so fast it would have caught fire for one of those in that price range. I'd absolutely love to have one to go with my 30R.

Understand the skinny billfold deal though, I had to leave a Browning B78 22-250 behind one time for $250. Lack of folding money at the time and I've regretted it ever since, just wasn't any way to make it happen.

I would have bought it if I had to tap into the emergency fund to do it...far better to beg forgiveness than ask permission...

I did find my 5 year old daughter a vintage wool Elmer Fudd style hunting cap complete with fold down ear flaps, in a mostly purple color. That smile was better than any rifle to stick in the safe. smile

Recently got into some trouble with my Wife over rule #9 for using our house account CC to buy some Leupold scopes and a Remington 700. Couldn't pass on the NIB Mark AR Mod 1 4-12x40AOs or the used, but minty, 700 SPS in 223 with a Nikon 3-9x40 ProStaff.
