After a looong search I finally found some 140 gr NPT up here. Now what to load them up with? I have Varget, RL15, H4350 on hand and I think all could work but I'm hoping to fasttrack a nice load without using up all my precious new boolits for load development. Can anyone help me out with a favorite load using any of these powders?

Please and thank you.....

Killzone have used H4350 and RL19 both with the 140 NPT in the 7/08. Both worked for me.

But no need to burn the stash of 140 Partitions. Do all your load work/sighting etc with 140 Sierra's. You should be able to substitute the Partitions for the Sierra and go hunting. POI should be the same as well. This has worked for me not only in the 7/08, but 7x57, 280,and 7 Rem Mag as well.

The 280 Remington is overbore.

The 7 Rem Mag is over bore.

That's great advice from Bobin. If you're looking to "cut to the chase" I'd probably grab that Varget, work up to 42g, and seat bullets to COAL of 2.800. Accuracy trumps speed in my way of thinking. Anything from 2750-2830fps should do nicely.

It is irrelevant what you think. What matters is the TRUTH.

Another vote for Varget in the 42 gr range. Seems to be the magical powder in my 7-08, shoots 140 gr bullets more accurate than any other powder.

I'm getting 2820 out of my 22" barrel with 139btsp pushed by varget. Haven't shot partitions yet. It's a good powder. Just started playing with RL17. It's showing some promise too.

I have done what Bobin said and worked fine . 42 grains of varget or 48 grains of H4350 with either the 140 sierra or Btip and then just dropped in Partition. Velocities were in the 2800 fps range and POI at 100 was basically the same . 41 grains of the RL15 also worked but velocities weren't quite as good .

I'd go straight to 48gr of H4350, were it me. Would likely also load a test round or two at 46 and 47gr to pop first and check for pressure, which is unlikely....

My gun likes 47gr and a 145 Speer BTSP with a bit of land engagement. Very good deer/hog load.

I guess it depends on what you can find. Norma powders are showing up on dealer shelves. When I had a 7mm-08, Norma 204 was a top performer. It's pretty close to the 4350's in burn rate. Hybrid 100V and Ramshot Hunter are also in that general burn rate.

A load of 41.5 to 42.0 of RL 15 has been great for four of my 7mm-08's. 2800+ fps. and very accurate. Everybody has their favorite. That's mine.
