Sierra still making the 200gr fp? I had better luck getting it to shoot than the Hornady.

I wouldn't want anything but cast bullets if I had one. Seems like that's where it would shine too me.

I'm particularly interested in the .375 Win. It seems like it could be made into a reasonable whitetail rig. Before I go looking for one, I'd like to hear what y'all had to say about it.

I have just been through this for Iowa's reg's. Must be in a handgun configuration -- no shoulder stock -- with a minimum of 4" length but no limit on length. I am building a T/C Encore with an 18" barrel in 444 a Marlin.
I considered the 375 Win, the 357 Max, etc., but in the end the pragmatist in me took over as finding brass and appropriate bullets in those two is problematic at best. The 444 on the other hand has two bullet weights with pointy tips with the heavier, a 265-grain a Leverevolution bullet actually having a BC of .225. This is easily capable of select 250-yard shots.
Anyway, that's the direction I went.

I had one in a 94XTR and it was downright unpleasant to shoot. I shoot 375 H&H that is not as uncomfortable as that Winchester was. I sold it. Savage might be nice or a Marlin.

If you don't mind cast bullets, the Cast Performance gas checked bullets can be real tack drivers

I have a 375 JDJ which is differient from the 375 Win. The 375 JDJ is a 444 Marlin case necked down to 375. I am shooting a 225 Hornaday its mild to shoot and accurate. Shooting this out of a TC Contender so the gun is light and an easy carry.

Yup!

I've played the hard to find brass and bullet game even before the current the shortages and have absolutely no desire to handicap myself more than needed.

While I generally favor the 45-70, for a strictly deer rifle I think I'd lean towards the triple 4, especially with so many excellent 44 mag bullet choices and cast bullet choices.
