Just inherited one of these, but a little confused....
Round barrel, but has checkered stock and fore end....
Take down version with no obvious serial #....
Forward flat of receiver has a circled Y and a H stamped in it
Tang has two holes drilled, assuming for tang peep sight.... No other extra holes
I would say both wood and metal are between 85-90%, closer to 90%, and the rifle was owned by one owner... A 92 yr old who unfortunately will no longer be able to
give anymore info on said rifle.
I will be keeping the rifle and probably handing it over to my son when he is old enough, so would just like any info you collectors out there may have.

Sounds really nice. Sorry to hear about the old fella. We're all headed that way.

We think that the barrel on the 29A was changed to round during/after WWII. Sometime around 1951 the receiver was grooved for a scope and became the 29-B. Just before the 29-B the serial numbers on parts was dropped and code letters were used. That should put your rifle around 1950.
