So I told my wife earlier this week I bought another 99. She looked at me and said, "Fine".

Mentioned to her yesterday I was thinking of picking up a $500 little bass buggy type boat to use on the fishing lease, and she flipped out.

Women are soooo confusing sometimes, but at least I've finally got her trained on the 99's! grin

Might have to sell that canoe that never gets used to keep her happy though. Sigh. Or the inflatable pontoon that I do use, but not much. Hmm.. somewhere in the garage is a float tube I never got around to using too. But definitely not getting rid of my 17' Tracker boat.

Maybe she thinks there should be a limit on how many boats a guy has? Naah... that'd be silly. Right?

I usually tell her the truth. This one I'm picking up is a 99 for $526 with shipping, it's wearing about $250 worth of scopes and mount, and the gun by itself will sell for $450. If I ever get around to selling it... She doesn't have a problem when I get those deals.

Too late now. Can't hide a boat. Boat permission came first. No ask on the 99, if its like at my house she wouldn't notice another 99. Then again if she did you could always say it was an investment as above. Boats are impossible to justify as an investment. This boat loser is educated in that field. GW

Usually can't hide the 99 arriving, having a C&R and it showing up at the door while I'm at work is usually a giveaway.

But I can definitely justify a boat as an investment, and did! It makes me happy, and how can you put a price on making your husband happy??

Unfortunately, that line didn't go over well, but my shoulder should heal up before the ice is off the lake. grin

diamondjim, if you like to fish, we're gonna have to find a day this spring to come catch some bass and crappie with me! Private property, so don't even need a fishing permit. Only requirement is a small codicil to your will stating that if you drown while we're fishing, all 99's go to me to compensate me for the emotional pain and suffering I'll go through. grin

Umm.. yeah, we stocked codicil last spring, so they should be real tasty this year. grin

Just was texting the wife about dinner plans. Sent her an "Okey Dokey" as confirmation............

Looked at it a minute later and saw that autocorrect changed it to "Okay Donkey".

I'm a dead man.

Usually when the word fine comes from a wife it's like yes dear coming from a man. At least it's been that way with all my ex wives.

I just love it when us big brave hunters become a little cowardly in the face of wifely resistance. All it takes is for our wives to put a foot down. Seems most of the time mine has all four down just like your "Okay Donkey" smile.

These did not just materialize out of thin air.

Happy wife, happy life. If momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.

I get to go to a guitar player concert Sunday with the wife. Jesse Cooke. Some things are like losing an appendage or throwing a Savage in a lake, but the alternative is misery on top of pain.

Better not ask for another 99 for a day or so ...

When I've had the "That's enough guns" stump talk, I change tactics.

1) Wait a week
3) when that next opportunity comes along, "Honey, just so you know I heard you last (week, month .. insert time here), I saw a very nice, rare gun, but resisted buying it." Let it lay, and usually after a few minutes she comes back, looks at me and says, if it really is that good, get it, but no more this year, ok?" ... works every time.

I suspect they (women) are just as perplexed about our behavior as we (men) are about thier's.

Despite all our whining and crying; men and women have the ability to look past each of the other sexes weaknesses's or we would not have become the current masters of our planet and would have been just another one of the millions of extinct species long ago.
