From advice gathered here over the years, I finally have been able to collect enough components to get started to load for my Kampfeld Custom... minus the primers.redding 3 pc dies, I have TAC, and a box each of barnes 180 ttsx, barnes 200ttsx, and 200 tsx. Seems like the only primers I can find are Winchester right now. Does anyone recommend one that is similar to Fed 215 Large Rifle Mag?

Also, any advice, tips, or tricks anyone would like to offer up. I'm like a sponge at this point.

Thumper the 200TTSX will have the best BC and can be driven to 2750fps. The WW primers will be a little hotter than a 210M and probably the 215M. You'll just have to shoot to find out. It's a good round w/just about any bullet from 200-250gr. I know several guys on the board shoot the 46gr of 4064 load w/the 250gr bullet and love it for everything. powdr

Nothing wrong with Winchester primers. Use the mag ones if you want that. Milsurp brass, and ordinary old 225 XFBs never let me down with my 358.

200 TTSX or 225 Partition is all I need these days.

Thumper--
My best groups in my 358 Win were with WW primers (Lg Rifle) and IMR 3031 pushing a 225gr pill...either Sierra Gameking or Swift A-frame. At 100yds 4 shot groups were just under an inch.
I never tried TAC, I never loaded 250gr bullets for the 358 Win.

No need to use Fed 215 for the .358 Win. The Winchester Primers at your disposal will work fine.

Yeah, no need for mag primers. TAC will work great with the bullets you mention.

I ran this simulation at 63K PSI..... This is what I load my BLR at....

Cartridge : .358 Win.
Bullet : .358, 200, Barnes 'TSX' 35820
Useable Case Capaci: 46.525 grain H2O = 3.021 cm
Cartridge O.A.L. L6: 2.780 inch = 70.61 mm
Barrel Length : 20.0 inch = 508.0 mm

Predicted Data for Indicated Charges of the Following Powders.
Matching Maximum Pressure: 63000 psi, or 434 MPa
or a maximum loading ratio or filling of 110 %
These calculations refer to your specified settings in QuickLOAD 'Cartridge Dimensions' window.
C A U T I O N : any load listed can result in a powder charge that falls below minimum suggested
loads or exceeds maximum suggested loads as presented in current handloading manuals. Understand
that all of the listed powders can be unsuitable for the given combination of cartridge, bullet
and gun. Actual load order can vary, depending upon lot-to-lot powder and component variations.

Hooooly load data Fotis!!!

laugh laugh

I 'used to' use H335 in several 358s; 1 Savage 99 & 2 or so BLRs.
Don't remember the exact charge wt. but @ 48 worked for me also with excellent accuracy.

**NOTE** Some 'claim' the BLRs have NO extraction strength smirk
I also had moren'one BLR in 243 and never had any extraction problems.

I've been loading mine with 225 Partitions for years, but am hoping to switch to 200 AB's to save a couple bucks. those PT's are a buck a piece! I just ordered 150 of those 200 AB's for <$0.50/ea from Shooters Pro Shop

Great powders: IMR4895, IMR 4320 and my personal favorite: TAC. Supposed to use mag primers with TAC to get better ignition.

I have no experience with the Barnes bullets in the 358. If I were to try them, I'd sure lead with the 200 TTSX. Velocities will never be really high in a 358 due to case capacity. Still a pleasure to shoot. I carry a takedown BLR and love that rifle. smile

Used 48 grains of Benchmark and TAC with a 200 TSX and Hornady SP in a 1.625" case length 358 WSSM which is extremely close to a 358 Win. Deer don't like it...
