Im thinking the Templar inlet would have the safty cutout.
The m70 safe is a pretty new development for Defiance.
Im sure McMillian could alter that, if you talked nice to them.

Dave, RDF,

Do you know if Defiance offers an integral rail that is extended beyond the receiver?

How about a right-hand action, with 3-pos on the port-side?

Thanks,

Jason

You can specify no safety cut on any McMillan stock.

Just installed a Huber trigger set at 2.5 lbs on a Defiance Deviant long action currently with magnum bolt and .300 win mag barrel, and that trigger is amazing.

RD.
When I talked to Defiance.
They said when talking with McMillian to say Gap Templar inlet.
McMillian has everything for it.
Defiance Rebels can be ordered with a long tennon. Its .125 longer than M700.
Something to keep track of when ordering from Defiance or McMillian.
Both my Rebels have long tennons...

dave

Mine is .250 longer

However, I gotta ask... For a person like myself who is looking for an accurate hunting rifle, not a bench rest rifle, after I add up the cost for all of the "options", what I am getting with a Defiance that I don't get with an MRC 1999 action at about half the cost ?

I've played with Montana actions, new and old, and Defiance push feed actions. The M 1999 actions are no better than a Winchester 70 action. They may advertise themselves as a custom action but the fit and finish does not compare to a Defiance. Unless you pay extra.
Defiance starts with better materials, use better machines, and is run by one of the top people in the industry. Tighter tolerances and every surface is perfect and true from the factory. With a good smith there will be no doubt your gun will shoot bragging size group and be a pleasure to own and use. Less work to find a load it likes, stock that you want, custom barrel, all done how you want.
With a M1999, it would probably shoot well. It would be a good hunting rifle, like a M70. It's built "good enough". But if your going a custom route, spend a little more for a gun that's a true custom. If your stepping up to a true custom M1999 your going to spend just as much for a Defiance built rifle, and the Defiance is better.

Ordered a short action LH, with 3 pos safety.

Now the wait begins

I’ve got one. Haven’t used it it yet. Kinda wanna order another with a standard bolt face for a 270/280.

My current one is very slick, but it’s a mag bolt face.

Don’t know if there is a better made for the money.

I can't believe they would choose to build the thing with the stupid coned breech. Apart from that, it's a real nice action. GD

Hmmm... good point. In the 1st pic it snuggles up right close to the bolt handle. It appears you'd have to come up over the top of the safety lever to push it back onto safe.

It's you and the bullet, and all the rest is secondary.

so tell me guys: how is this action superior to a pre-64 M70 or post-64 crf M70 action that's been slicked up a bit?

slicker feeding?
more rugged trigger?
smoother action safety?
cheaper?
stronger?
stronger recoil lug?

Educate me here.
