Here are some of the bullets that influenced me to switch from .257 to 6.5mm. The one on the left is the stubby .257 I was using in the .257SLR. The next two will be used in the two 6.5SLR (nine twist) and he last two will be used in the 6.5RUMLN (8 twist). All have 26" barrels.

They are G.S.Custom85HV, G.S.Custom106HV, Lupua Scenar 123, Cutting Edge hunting 130, Matrix 142

My 257 Roberts loves the GS Custom 100HV. Will have to try GS Customs in my 6.5 Creedmoor . Still waiting on scope and rings. Where sir do you get your GS Customs?

sidepass,

They are in Mishigan as well as South Africa. Gina is at 1(269)861-2553.

Check out this group of three three shot groups. Excluding the Remington case the group is 8/10" for eight shots from a fluted 26" barrel with a .550"muzzle. The velocity was 3,830 feet per second. One of the bucks I killed was shot in the front of the chest and yet this 85 grain bullet damaged the pelvis!

By the way I have 25 of the HV85 .257 bullets left over I will sell for $25.

PS What scope and rings?

3x9 Nikon Monarch in Leupolds much to my supprise , must have had it laying about. Most of my rifles wear 3.5x10x40 VX3's or 2x8x36 VX3's. Started playing with 230 HV's in my 9.3x62 and very pleased with how they shoot.
I'll take those 85's. PM info please.

There seems to be more 6.5 bullet options than for the quarter bore.

I got out of the .25 cal. business a few years ago, currently have three 6.5's.

I still have a 25-06AI in a Sendero I really like and it along with a .257 Wea. are relly good for point and shoot or the MPBR type sight-ins out to 400-500 yds, for Deer and lower but yes the 6.5 just pull away for the longer shots, kinda enjoy my .264

I've had a .25-06 and a .257 Wby. They were good guns, but didn't stick around over time. I just like 6.5's better. There is only so much room in a couple of gun safes... grin

I tend to trade, build and turn over inventory until I find a real keeper.

In my 264 WM I have these bullets through the chrono.

nosler 100gr ballistic tip at 3709fps

I will be shooting these bullets for accuracy when the weather improves.

Thanks for the info. My case, once fired, should be the same capacity as the .264.

I can testify that the 142 Matrix is a killer. Put my spike elk down at 950 yds last October with my 6.5x47 running it 2917 fps.
