Fotis Steve(Dogzapper)thinks so. Said he killed quite a few w/that bullet. I wouldn't push it to 3200, 3100 maybe. It's the next best thing to a premium bullet. I think the 162 at 3000 would be better. The 139, 154, and 162 are all proven bullets in the Hornady lineup. powdr

I've killed three Roosevelt bulls with a 154 hornady bullet out of my 7STW. Headshot at 260 yards, headshot at 150 yards, behind the shoulder at 125 yards. DRT.
I bought several hundred "blems" from midway years ago, so I'm actually not sure if they're interbonds or interlocks. But, they've worked well, and are very accurate in my rifle.

slm9s,
Interlocks will have soft points. Interbonds will have red plastic points.

Sorry, I meant interbond or sst. But they were advertised as "bonded" so I'm pretty sure they're interbonds.

I believe it to be a tough bullet, but only put them into elk starting at the muzzle of 2750-2800 fps from a 7x57 Mauser. Never caught one in an elk, but did with a Mule deer. Bullet entered the brisket, went length of deer and stopped under hide of left ham.

I know they work out of a 280. I want to say I was around 2900 fps but I'd have to look in my note to be sure. I know elk didn't like it no matter how fast they were going.

A friend of mine used them for many years out of a 270 Magnum. It was a 7Mag case necked down to 270. He liked long barrels and if I remember correctly it was 26-27".
He killed an elk and mule deer buck every year that I knew him until he passed about 4 years ago.
I'd sure not be afraid to use one started at 3200 on elk.
My bad he shot the 150 Interlock 270 not the 154 7MM

My bad all the way around. He was shooting the 150 Interlocks in the 270 Mag.
No Bearing on the OP's post what so ever.

This is well timed; these bullets are impossible to find but I just bumped into an estate deal where I was able to score 800. 7-08, 7x57, & 280 AI ought to all be well fed with some certified elk killers !~

I believe it to be a tough bullet, but only put them into elk starting at the muzzle of 2750-2800 fps from a 7x57 Mauser. That velocity from a 7x57 with 154 gr bullet is pretty much Brian Williams!! Ain't no safe load that will get there.
Beware of thieves, scammers and dishonest members on the "Fire" classifieds. Ya there is a thief here too. Whatever!!
They're all around the CampFire and everywhere.

Good feedback on the 150 interlocks, I have a couple 270's to feed and these are fairly easy to find and reasonable enough in price to stockpile a bit when I do find them.

Ain't no safe load that will get there. Then Nosler is the US Gov't going along with the lie; check their load data as there are several loads in that neighborhood listed for 150s. The 7-08 has even more loads listed in that vacinity; can't imagine why a case with a little more capacity would be viewed with suspicion in this regard?

the 7x57 will do anything the 7-08 will in a modern action.
Same as the 280 vs the 270 or 308 vs 30-06

I shoot the 154 SP in my Kimber 280 AI. With H4831sc, it is the accuracy king in that rifle. My velocities are 2,800 and change though, so I'd expect that bullet to kill just about anything moving at that speed.
To me, 3200 fps is monometal territory for big game.

I use the 154 interlock in a 7 saum at about 3050 fps and they still work fine. But that is about the limit in my opinion. I shot a cow elk at 200 yds. The bullet held together, but lost a lot of weight and lots of meat damage. Dead elk- 5 steps and tipped over. Up to 2800 they would be perfect.
