Is it just me or is something amiss with the availability of .35 rem ammo. I have checked many sources but sometimes not even listed.

Any ideas?

I checked for a buddy. The ONLY source was Old West Scrounger (who makes excellent reloads) @ $34.95/ box.

I'm in the gun biz here in S.C. in a fairly large store with pretty good buying power with our main suppliers and we have not seen a single box of ANY brand (Federal, Winchester, Remington, Hornady) since early deer season 2013. It has certainly been on the backburner with the manufacturers...

I am selling off some 1x fired 35REM brass if anyone here on the Marlin bunch is interested.

I had the same problem couldn't get any 35 my buddy gave me 10 rounds I also have a savage 99 in 250 savage also hard to to get ammo for........

Picking up brass, like offered above, and reloading is the answer. I don't have a .35 Rem, but a good bud does. I've been able to keep him in ammo this way.

You can pay high prices on auction sites. I have. I've also paid high prices at a dealer. He had them on the shelf because he likes full retail pricing on everything.
Also there's good people out there on forums that will share. Good people

I used to just order it on back order and wait till it comes in. Sitting on about 200 rounds now so I just pick up a couple boxes when I see it. If you are in Fenton, I would order it on back order from BPS and have it shipped to the Auburn Hill store. Sometimes you wait weeks other time months.

I buy ammo fairly regularly at Sportsmans Warehouse. I don't know if Walmart carries Ammo in your area but they should have it as well. I'd try there. Maybe even Cabelas or Bass Pro.

I'm "hoarding" 6 boxes of Remington Core-Lokts - minus a handful for sight in. Shelves were empty for the longest time around here - Hornady, Remington - zip, zero, nada. Last summer I stopped in the local farm supply store and low and behold . . .

Cabelas has the LEVERevolution stuff in stock. Haven't seen Remington Core-Lokts in forever.

Some bullets are available, and I have brass to reload, but loaded factory ammo is few and far in-between. I managed to pick up a box of 100 new cases so I'm sitting pretty good to reload.

Now, .375 Winchester factory ammo or reloading components is another story ....

I have been looking for 35REM in both Basspro and Calelas without any luck. The thuddy - thuddy
remains a top deer cartridge but I've always preferred the 35REM. With its moderate recoil and
a hel1 of oomph behind it. The fact is the 35REM is now over 100 years old and at the end of the road.
It is fast becoming obsolete and any time I see a box its mine ..... even at $35

Glad I don't have to worry about it cuz I sent my .35 down the road and kept my .30-30's. Plenty of .30-30 ammo on the shelves everywhere and field experience showed me the .30-30 puts deer on the ground every bit as well as the .35 ever did.

There are too many 35s out there for the cartridge to die. Heck, they are still being made. Ammo will be availble again eventually if you can weather the storm. Luckily I have 400-500 of the 200 grain Corelocts and many hundred pieces of brass laid by.

We really are having 2 problems with 35REM. Its hard to find and when I do find a box, it cost twice as much as 30-30.

one more in a nearly endless list of good reasons to HAND LOAD for the 35 remington.
you might consider a 200 grain hard cast as it makes bullet availability far easier, and yes you can very effectively kill deer with a 180-220 grain cast bullet from a 35 Remington

If you look around you'll quickly see that the 35 Remington factory ammo is as described, rather hard to locate, but this reminded me of one of the guys in our hunt club that purchased a marlin lever gun at a pawn shop decades ago , who really wanted a 357 mag version so he could shoot cast bullets dirt cheap, I told him at the time that the 35 rem was the better idea as the hand loaded cast bullets could be loaded to be just as accurate at the same velocity as the 357 mag carbine IF that's what he wanted to do, but he had the significant advantage with the larger case capacity to push heavier cast bullets to noticeable higher velocities should he choose to later.
it should be obvious that some cartridges case capacity's and bore sizes, rifling twist rates and basic rifle designs are much more compatible with the use of cast bullets and the 35-45 caliber marlin lever actions just generally fall into that range.
Using 35. grains of IMR 3031, I get about 2000 fps with quite acceptable accuracy, simply cast from 95% WW alloy and 5% pure tin, size .359 and lube , seat the bullet out to the longest length that functions smoothly, if done correctly its proven to be very effective on white tail deer out well past 150 yards

you might want to keep in mind that the 35 remington loaded with a good hard cast gas check 200 grain bullet pushed to about 2000 fps shoots considerably flatter and would be rather comparable in some ways to a marlin 44 mag loaded with the common 280-300 grain hard cast bullet in that either caliber would allow very inexpensive reloading and hunting and an easy 150 yard effective range and ammo you could fabricate rather cheaply

I've had a yen for a Remmy 141 for a while, but the shortage of brass and even ammo has kept me from pulling the trigger, so to speak. I also drool over the occasional 336 in .35 and rarely .375. Finally, I ran into a pristeen Ruger Number 1 in .45/70 at a great price and decided it would be my deep-woods thumper. No serious issues with .45/70 brass.

Speaking of brass, how many times can you typically load .35 brass?

I was in a gun store a little over a week ago that had at least 20 boxes of Hornady 200-grain FTX for $27.99 a box. Don't know if that's too pricey for the average .35 Remington shooter or not.

No shortage of full factory boxes of 35 Rem. Corelokts and Silvertips at the flea markets here in PA, usually at bargain prices too....

I am sitting on 9 boxes of Remington 200gr factory loads. Just picked up 250 Remington 200gr Core-Lokt bullets and I have close to 200 once fired brass. I think I will be good for a long time to come.

Pappy,Ive got five reloads on some of my 35 rem. brass with no signs of failure yet.They have always been full length sized and were shot out of a Rem. 760 loaded close to book max.

Pretty good, I'd say. The lever guns probably allow a bit more case stretch.

The local Dick's had quite a bit of odds and ends ammo, including five boxes of Remington 200 grain RNCL ammo priced at $30 per box. They also have several boxes of Hornady 160 grain GRFTX LeverEvolution 30-30 ammo for $20 per box.

I found Hornady here yesterday in a couple of places but no Remington. What boggles my mind is there has to be more 35 Remingtons than 35 Whelens out there (I would think) but you can find 35 Whelen ammo, even 30-40 Krag, but no 35 Remington. Even the Hornady wasn't cheap $30 a box. I may need to use my 30-30 more found some of that for $20/box.

If I had to guess, PA is probably the .35 Rem capital of states with rifles so chambered. I haven't seen any factory .35 Rem on the shelves for at least three years where I'm at in Texas. I still have not quite four boxes of Remington factory on hand which was cheap to buy when I got them. But when I saw supply starting to dry up, I bought a large quantity of new brass. Enough to last the rest of my days.

I just picked up a 1961 336 marlin lever this week and prior to that was unware about the ammo shortage , was also lucky cabelas had them in stock only a few hours I ordered 7 boxes of 200 grain core locks with I orderd more . I then found a small pa gun store withe more then fair prices and orderd 3 more so far have six boxes coming my way

I have several hundred bullets and some assorted once-fired brass that I'd part with. I was saving it for a local fellow but he's never showed up. Not sure of the exact count. May have .35 dies, too. I made a mistake and sold a beautiful 1956 model Marlin a few years back. Don't need the bullets and brass now.

A shop near me just got in a couple cases of remington 200 gr. I picked up 4 more boxes yesterday at 29.99 a box. They do some internet sales and you may be able to call them and have some shipped. PM me for details.

Ballyhoo, is it just a local store or is it a name brand store. Thinking I may be close to one, if it's a Cabelas or Sportsmans or something along that line.

It is a local shop. I always look for the stuff and it is the first I have seen in a while. No signs of it at the nearby BPS, Dick's, Gander Mountain etc. But i hope it is a sign that others stores will be getting some in.

Just an FYI update. I spoke with our Remington field service representative yesterday and happened to ask him about 35 Remington ammo. He said that the 35 was on the production schedule last year and somehow was bypassed and didn't make it into production. They are planning to make enough this year to fill all the backorders they have X2.

He talked like the run should be starting any day now. Maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Hey, guys. I've been in your shoes, so I'm gonna stick my neck out. I have a friend who has a class 6 ffl. (Ammo manufacturing.) If you have brass, I'm 99% certain he'd load it for you, and he's pretty reasonable. I also have a fair supply of Rem 150 gr bullets designed for the 35. (I'm not looking to sell them. I use them in a .357 bolt gun and love them, but could part w/a few if needed.)

I saw a good bit of 35 Remington at Cabela's in Augusta a couple of weeks ago. I passed on buying any since I have enough to last me for a while if I just hunt with it. No point being part of the problem….

I ordered some CCI .22RL rimfire from them and sent the link to my bud who has a .35 Rem.

I'm wondering if the 150 gr. Rem Core-Lokt or 200 gr. Leverevolution would be the way to go. I suggested he get a few boxes of each and see which shot better, as they're both priced the same.

Would like feed back on that choice.

Midway sent me a notice that the Hornady ammo was in stock @ $24.99, so I ordered a few boxes. I just checked and it's still available.

Apparently 35 Remington 200 grain corelockt is available again. I was in Cabelas today and found 9 boxes at $29.99 today. I only bought 5 boxes.

Interestingly I was in Sportsmans warehouse in Anchorage a couple of weeks ago and it was almost $50 a box. If you are still looking I'd go look now.

A couple of months ago I got an email from Brownells and they had it in stock. Can't remember the price, but higher than I thought it should be so I passed. Now may be a time to start looking again. Good luck.

Saw quite a bit at a LGS recently, so it seems the Remington "seasonal" time has finally come.

My LGS has a bunch of the Remington 200-gr Core-Lokts and Hornady FTX Leverevolution plastic tip, but none of the Federal blue box 200-gr RN stuff that my rifles really like.

The few .35rem rifles I have shot factory ammo in much preferred the Federal brand and not easy to find these days.

I sent an e-mail to PPU yesterday asking if not begging them to make 35 Remington. They load commercially a LOT off more oddball rounds (my LGS has PPU 6.5x57mm - ain't seen one o' them here ever!) so why not add 35 Remmie to their list? Everybody else should submit that request also.

The local Cabela's has what looks like about 25 boxes of the Hornady LeverEvolution 200 grain factory ammo for $27 per box. No Fed/Rem/Win ammo in 35 Rem.

A few years back I bought a good supply of empty brass so I and my son are fixed for life.

It's my understanding that companies do runs of .35 Remington in time for deer season as there's little demand for this ammo any other time of the year. I'm guessing that there are also regional preferences. Here in NY, for decades, .35 Remington, mostly in the Marlin 336, was one of the most commonly encountered rifles in New York's deer woods, even more common than the Winchester 94.

It's a good idea to lay in a supply of brass or loaded rounds but I don't think this caliber will be discontinued any time soon.

For the longest time that was true, but for quite a few years there was a drought when manufacturers just stopped making those seasonal runs due to higher demand for other products. Now it appears they have resumed production of the 35 Rem, but only recently so. Hornady has also stepped up to support some of these niche cartridges as well.

Likewise. I also have a bunch of Remington 200 RN corlokts and Hornady 200 IL's.

I probably have some I'm willing to get rid of. I don't have a .35 Rem anymore. Brass too, albeit not much.

How does shipping it work?

I've decided to hunt some thick cover this deer season. So, today I drug my Marlin 35 Rem out of the back of safe. It's got a 2X7 Nichols Light on it that's an excellent low light scope with a wide field of view. Shot it, and it was still on. I'm using Remington ammo that's probably 20 years old, but it still goes bang.

Walking through Academy the other day and they had 4 boxes of Rem 200gr CL on the clearance shelf. Haven't seen any 200gr CL on a store shelf in 4 years.

tzone, you have it all wrong. If you have ammo but no rifle, you don't get rid of the ammo, you get another gun.

Lots of it here. Can't find the Federal blue box, but there's Remington available in decent quantity. However, always best to handload.

I've found it at Cabelas and Sportsmans Warehouse. Interestingly Cabelas was cheaper. It is frequently also available through Midway USA and Brownells.

At the sportsmans warehouse in Ogden, UT they had some. For some reason I wanted to say it looked like the federal fusion box. I know it was federal though. They had 35 Rem in Winchester, federal, and leverevo. I don't remember if I saw any remingtons.

A buddy of mine reloads, so I bought all I needed to reload and told him to keep it at his place (he has a 35 also). We reloaded about 100 rounds. I did some cast bullets but they were not as good as the Speers I bought. They were all off but just a tid bit of weight. I just bought 300 WM stuff and will be doing some of that too.
