Presently have a 06 660 Rhino. Great machine but a guy says he will give me a deal on a 2012 Can Am 800. Only thing I have against the Rhino is its engine is loud and the brakes squeak coming down hill. Other than that it climbs like a goat. My wife is about ready to have me committed for thinking about this at my age (78) but I can't help myself thinking about it. Anyone have any experience with the Can Am, or am I nuts even thinking about it. Sort of like buying more guns because they are a great deal.

They are fast, not particularly quiet nor reliable. Buddy has one and has had odd electrical issues that are still not resolved. Goes into limp home mode quite regularly in low temps with accompanying warnings, check engine lights etc. Dealer has not been able to figure it out yet after 3 or 4 visits. Has had to be towed back to camp a time or two. But it is fast smile

I've only been around 1, a Commander. Looks really nice and doesn't lack on power, but I know it's had a lot of problems.

I've got 3-4 friends that all own the Commander 1000 and they seem to like them but personally, I am not that impressed with their off trail capabilities. I've got one buddy that has a cabin about 2 miles off the road and he has to buy tracks for it to get to his cabin, while I was able to get to it with my Rhino on Mudlite XTR's quite easily.

They are fast and take the bumps pretty well but I don't think I'd buy one and use it for any kind of utility work or for hunting.

I've also got a Rhino (09 700) and wouldn't trade it for anything. It is a bit loud inside but there are ways to fix that issue. They're aren't the fastest machine out there but they will go damn near anywhere you want to go with it.

That's ok, I'll ass shoot a dink.

Just an fyi, Yamaha no longer makes the Rhino, they stopped producing them in 2013.

Yeah, pretty much but it's a bit wider than the Rhino which can be a problem in some places. 4 inches wider, 200lbs heavier and a softer suspension, would make for a comfortable ride out on the trails.

Been around Can Am machines some...rode in an 800....

was loud and hot.......wanna upgrade your '06 Rhino..?

Buy a newer Rhino...a 700 FI...they may be old school...

But they are bullet proof.....I went from an '07 660..

To this '09 700.....now has 2500 miles
