Braveheart was 14 years, 5 months old, great bird finder and great old friend. Best nose I've ever seen in over 40 years of bird hunting. I hope God is a bird hunter...

Only mistake God made. Our bird dogs should bury us.

He had a great run, and I am guessing a great life. Bird hunting with your partner is what it is all about, for both of you. I am sorry for your loss, but I bet the 14 years were great

I had many fine hunts with a GSP and recognize a good dog when I see one even if I am a flushing dog guy. I wish you the best and know that the great memories will get you through this loss. Take care.

Here's to Braveheart, a fine looking boy. Our hearts are sad, but his aches are gone. Take care.

My last GSP which I laid to rest in '99 was colored like yours. She was an AKC titled AFC & Master Hunter and NAVHDA Utility titled. She was the best dog I've ever owned bar none.
I know all to well what it's like to lose a good one. My heartfelt condolences.

I feel your pain since I love my dogs more than I like most people. Sorry for your loss.

Very sorry for your loss, Blair. I am sure you have a lot of great memories with him.
Godspeed Braveheart.
Best,
Chet

My dog friend you have my heart hurts with you! I lost 3 of my finest dogs to supposed sportsmen out of FL that came up here and leased deer land, my dogs a Drents Partridge Hound, and 2 almost human bulldogs were shot within 20 min of them jumping a deer on my place and following, pushing it into their lease. 3 shots and my and several others Christmas was totally ruined. Had I not lost my wife in early spring and my heart had turned soft, trying to join her one day there would be dead dog shooters! After weighting it out I did not want to spend everything I want to leave daughter trying to stay out of prison! It will get better my friend!BUT a man has not lived till he has a or in my case many great dogs to share life with!!! very best winpoor

We all feel you pain, as working dog owners we are left with the memories in the home and in the field with out 4 legged partners. All great field dogs go to a better place and wait for us to join them again in the field of flushed birds.

I've lost two GSPs in the last 7 months. You're right, it doesn't get easier. The pain just dulls a bit. RIP to your Braveheart, he looks like an excellent example of the breed.
winchesterpoor that is just horrible. I would lose my mind if someone shot my dog.
