I have a Tarptent Cloudburst 3. I have used it in extreme weather but have been out in a few rain showers with it with no problems. At three pounds, four ounces, it's pretty nice to carry and plenty roomy for two guys. It'll fit three but it would be snug.

As for sleeping pads, I have used a Thermarest ultralight for 8 or 9 years now. I like it and haven't had any issues at all with it.

Chronographs, bore scopes and pattern boards have broke a lot of hearts.

If you have a deep pocketbook take a look at ZPacks Duplex or Triplex
tents. They are made of Cuben fiber and are light as feathers...that would
be 20 OZ. feathers.. LOL Made in USA

As for the Pad
Thermarest Neoair for me..look for the ones with high R value

I use a Neoair with a closed cell pad on top. Redundancy. If the inflatable fails, I still have the closed cell pad. I also carry a patch kit for the inflatable.

Also, Thermarest is USA made... I like that.

I'm using the NeoAir and using a Crazy Creek 2.0 Hex chair as a foam 3/4 pad underneath. The CCC folded out works like a pad to protect the NeoAir and give a little more R value under my upper body. During the non-sleeping hours, it's a rather comfy camp chair and convenient when glassing.

I like the looks of those tents! Way cool and LIGHT. The Altaplex (36"X90") 1.5 man tent weighs about what most light bivy's do.

So you don't think it's wonderful that Kevin's stuff is made in the USA?

I just ordered up a Cimmaron from Kevin. Looking forward to it! Should be a great shelter. I had an original BCS the quality was top notch!! I think this will be a great replacement and an improvement over my now deceased SL-5. The fact that its American made is a bonus.

Just curious, how did it meet its demise? Just wear out, or something else?
