For any frame.......

None. Crossdraw for CCW and a 1911 just doesn't work as well as a good to great holster, IWB, strong side at 3-4 o'clock.

Should add for in the truck as well......

Unholster while in the truck, and set it on the seat next to you or stick in between the seat cushions. When you get out, reholster.

I don't carry crossdraw but I have missed you.

Trying to figure out if I can mosy over for the IB-5.

Most times during winter I have a couple three layers on, and generally the last two are hoodies. I just fingered it may be easier to pack in a crossdraw.

I won't be at IB-5 but there is a shoot in Jordan in June that I plan on shooting in.

It'll be warmer.

I prefer OWB holsters that have an 'extra' belt loop that allows a regular strong side holster to be worn cross draw. My go-to for OWB has been Bianchi and they have a lot of options.

Cross draw works just fine around here for CCW about half the year.

I had the exact same Bianchi, but sold it, as I hated the thumb snap strap.

I've got a strong side leather Heinie, an Old World belt slide, a couple of kydex Fotis', a Blackhawk CQC kydex, and maybe a couple more somewhere around here.

That's why I'm asking about a cross draw....I like options.....

Fobus Roto Paddle works reasonably well & won't break the bank.

Gun angle can be rotated for strong side or cross draw, OWB.

I've looked at those online in the past, and they seem like a valid option, but I'm leaning toward good 'ol leather for this one.

You mentioned driving - a cross draw holster of 1911 size will go almost horizontal when sitting. It's almost a certainty that, without a thumb break, a cross draw 1911 will eventually end up on the floor.

I was looking at one the other day that is similar, but had an extra piece of leather between the handle and skin. Suppose that's needed?

nah, but I'd sure like to try one. And I really doubt sitting on yer azz in a car seat will dump one anywhere. especially one that is boned to fit......

well, if you get one for either one, and don't like it, I'd sure think of getting you out from under it. Are you doing the IB?

Think I'll wait out the weather forecast before a commitment. I can roll around cheaper in the mud and snow here.

I was hoping you'd buy one and have it at the shoot. Then I could look 'er over, and decide if I really wanted one.....

I carry crossdraw 99% of the time and have for most of the 47 years I have carried.

Since 2007 have used a Bianchi #6 IWB holster behind the left hip butt forward. Lately I have been using a Remora doing the same.

To draw seated in a car, just lift your sweatshirt with your left hand, grab the butt Calvary style, withdraw the gun and either shoot left handed or pass to your right hand...

Very comfortable and very little print as the butt is forward. It is not as fast as a conventional strong side holster but has worked for me going on 50 years of daily carry...

Why would it.... From 1970 till 2007 I didn't even use a holster. The only reason I had to start was the front sight on my remodeled Commander started eating holes through my pants into the left rear jeans pocket...

Try it around the house for a few days..then go sit in a car all seat belted in and try drawing...

So you've had a leather OWB crossdraw w/o a thumbstrap, and your 1911 kept falling on the floorboards?

Nope, but just like handguns falling out of shoulder holsters, cross draws have their own quirks. It shouldn't be hard to see the risks especially when lap and shoulder belts are added in.

Straight drop IWB swede leather holster...as such it works just fine strong side butt to the rear or weak side butt forward...

The Remora IWB is fully ambidextrous and can be adjusted as to tilt...

Both work just fine...just gotta think outside the box..

The Bianchi #6 is a lot nicer holster, but I often carry the same way with a nylon clip IWB holster and an airweight J-frame.

I also have the DeSantis Sof-Tuck and The Insider. Both work well but have been wearing the Remora a lot since getting one last month as it isn't clipped to the waistband so it can be adjusted a little easier for comfort.

I have looked at the EPS Double Agent. It is basically a Bianchi Askins Avenger with an extra slot that allows it to be worn crossdraw. If one wanted just one holster to do both that would be an excellent choice...
