I just saw an ad for this. Before this deteriorates into a rant against Coors or a glorification of a bunch of obscure beers that few have ever heard of, does anyone remember Schimdt's wide-mouth bottles and do you remember them being called "glass cans"?

I remember them being called "wide mouths" or "big mouths" but not "glass cans". This would be Western PA though, YMMV.

We called them big mouths. And they had the tear tops, not a screw cap.
Something clever here.

I have a Coors Jar, it must be about a half gallon, Says Coors and I believe Golden Co. across it just like a beer bottle. No idea what was in it new. Best guess I have heard was maybe Malt to perhaps a soda fountain. Kicked it up from where a old place had burned why back when. I was about 15. It was amongst other miscellaneous junk I was kicking up and shooting with a 22. Had the sights on it and saw the letters, cleaned it up and somewhere it is still around.
Now that we have the innanet I otta take a picture of it next time I come across it, and send it to Coors and try to see if the know what is was filled with.

Only beer I ever knew as a 'bigmouth' was Mickey's, aka green death.
Other than that, I have enjoyed a twelve pack or two of the stubbies since they came out. Coors O or yellow bellies are my most common beer.

The other day deep in a tool box I found an Oly pop church key and a Goebel Brewing Co. can/bottle opener for the old steel cans.

Ahhh, the shape of a Michelob bottle - just like a woman. Wide at the hips with a skinny waiste to hold, on up to points on her own son...way up high...way up firm and high. God I loved that beer.

Don't remember the Schmidts bottle. I do remember Schlitz. Used to take it to the beach until it was banned there ... too many ladies were getting sand in their Schlitz.

Easy to see why something like this would be called a "ditch grenade."

Schmidts bottles. How many got one of those glass cutting kits for Christmas and made a whole set of Schmidts tumblers for the family? Now that was class! We just didn't use them or wear our crocheted beer hats on Sunday!

I heard that a lady drove her car into the side of a beer truck - wound up with Schlitz in her pants and Blue Ribbons in her hair. (At least that's the way Mom told it 55 years ago.)

Seger!
I liked the old Michelob as well. Still don't mind Coors and do remember my dad drinking the old bottles. Also the Old Style hand grenades.

I collect beer stuff & have a 6-pack in the carton of Schmidt Big Mouth bottles. They are empty. I'm not sure when these were made.
