+1 on Ed LaPour, he just installed one on my Springfield 1922M2. It works great and I am very pleased with it.

Take a look at Dakota's, too. I have had good luck with them. Own a couple Gentrys that work well but one had timing issues which were corrected.

Timing them correctly may be the bigger issue than the brands listed fwiw...

Timing issues with the Gentry and some with Dakota. My LaPours are great. I have 6 of them. I have 2 for Remingtons installed and one waiting that are made by PT&G. They work fine.

Steer clear of the Dakota and Gentry unless you want to risk running into the timing problem. Ed Lapour's is a Cadillac compared to the others, Satterlee's are good too but delivery could be a problem

Slight hijack, but I have seen pictures of at least two VERY expensive David Miller Mauser action rifles that use the two position Wisner (sp?) or something very similar. I have always found that to be curious for such high end rifles.

However, it also seems to me the only real reason for a three position safety on a controlled feed rifle is easy bolt disassembly in the field.

LaPour's website is a little lacking in info, does he install them? Price?

Or does he supply the smith's that install and fit them?

Thanks,

Mike

He will install them. However, the best part of this is he will fit it to your bolt. The millions of Mausers out there constitute a bunch of different manufacturing tolerances. Some parts interchange, some need fitting. Ed makes three different sized threads on his. If you order one, he will ask you to send your bolt in and he will fit the shroud to your bolt; not the whole safety, just shroud to bolt and it ends up a great fit.

If you are wanting a two position one, send me and email, I have several left. Jkob60msn.com

Thanks Butch and Jim!

I want to be able to take the bolt down easily will your 2-pos allow that?

The 3-position safeties from Recknagel are tremendous parts too. NECG carries them and they are well worth a look.

They offer RH, LH, and a version with an additional locking lever.

Not as easily as with the three position one with the center position. You would need to retract the cocking piece and hold it back with something thin like a dime.

This is a Wisner safety on my Swede. As I understand it, LaPour bought Jim's tooling and such and makes the same safety?
