I am seeing lots more posts about the Tamron SP 150-600mm Di VC USD lens. Mostly positive comments, which is good. Anyone that gives the lens a chance will typically love it. Great price, sharp, lighter than a huge prime lens, what’s not to love? I use the lens almost on a daily basis, either shooting some birds in the yard or going to a nearby College for some Bald Eagles.

The lens has all the great construction that Tamron has been doing with their new lenses, multi-coatings, weather and dust resistant seals, fast focusing USD motor. I have found when I am using it on a tripod, I will turn off the VC, Vibration Compensation, but when using a monopod, I will still leave the VC on to compensate for any movement while I am framing up an image. Below are a few Eagle shots that I did this week. What I liked the most about them was how fast and accurate the Tamron SP 150-600mm Di VC USD lens tracked a moving subject. The male Eagle was on the nest when he began to call. Overhead, a juvenile male was approaching the nest. He flew off to run the other Eagle off and the female also heard the calls and came in to assist. Together they ran the invader off and the female did some great aerobatic maneuvers as she returned to the nest.

The Tamron SP 150-600mm Di VC USD lens is getting more available and the long waits are pretty much over. Time to give Joel or Mark a call at Camera Land and get your lens on order. This will give you a little time to get used to it before the busy spring season coming in a few weeks or a couple of months. Don’t forget to get all your camera needs from Camera Land, make sure you let them know you are a member of the Campfire!

All the images below were taken with the Nikon D-800 and the Tamron SP 150-600mm Di VC USD lens.

I am certainly impressed with the quality vs expense. As said in another's post, a case with it would be classy.

The older series lenses used to include lens cases, but that was a while back. I will have to ask some friends up at Tamron as to why or if they know. My guess is that in the majority of cases, no one case is going to work. I put my lens in a backpack, whereas a friend carries it in a pelican style case.

It is definitely lighter than some of the primes!
