The Tea Party didn't exist until January 2009. If they had any issue with how straight ticket Republicans like you and I wanted things they would have invented themselves long before then.
The TP still, obviously, does not "exist" as a political entity. That's the media's way of branding people who still believe in the Consitution and "normal" ways of conducting government. It's a philosophy,a way of thinking about how government should be run, what it should and should not do,and it has always existed in this country. The problem today is that so many people are so badly educated, unfounded in governing principles, and lacking any political/philosophical foundations after years of left wing indoctrination, that mainstream Republicans are hard to distinguish from Democrats; and the Democrats have become fascist/socialists. I have never seen it so bad and it seems to get worse every year. The country today is run by people with heads full of manure and are utterly without scruples. Of course the Dems are going to worry who will protect them....they are fundamentally cowards, and always look to someone else to do their dirty work. The democrats have copied the Republicans, not the other way around. Always have, always will. Just like the M855 ban. Reagan(we all adore) did the AP ammo ban in 1986. The TP doesn't exist other than as a marketing angle. We need new Republican voters and if we can trick libertarians/constitutionalists in to voting for our side then so be it. You perspective is limited in time and scope. The Republican Party, as it presently exists, has out lived its usefulness. It needs to be replaced. It has no effective leadership, and it is too "big government".It's time for it to go. I saw results of a Newsmax pole on potential republican presidential candidates yesterday with tallies in the 100's of thousands. The top three leaders, and by very substantial margins, were Ted Cruz, Ben Carson, and Mitt Romney. All were far ahead of anyone else and Jeb Bush was an also ran....nowhere near the other three. I don't understand Romney but do understand Carson and Cruz. Yet we have idiots pushing Bush, who is a disaster and useless. He will force me to stay home.....and I NEVER do that. Your present Republican Party leadership is a joke. It needs to be turned upside down and put in the hands of people like Cruz, Allen West etc......or we are all goners and this country will never be turned around until it totally collapses.

in the first place, there is no 'looming Homeland Security shutdown', and even if there were, 95% of HS would continue to run as normal, due to how the department gets funded. Ding Ding Ding!!! We have a winner!

Bush gave us DHS so we all support it without question. Sadly Sherp is right, Bush gave us DHS. But Sherp, you are not telling us everything. DHS was to some extent a good idea. I never would have voted for it. My very conservative US. Rep did. The reason you don't create a department in the U.S. government is it grows to be a monster. Obama wasted no time doing just that. Now itis a monster and may very well be the department that knocks on our doors demanding " illiegal" guns ,, primers , and even seick the EPA on us if they happen to find bars of lead in the garage. Don't be too surprised. All they have to do is declare us a threat.

We only have to make the "tea party" claim to get some people to vote a few election cycles. Then, they feel like they have invested themselves in it so they will never go anywhere else and we get to maintain the path we have been on with no change. Kind of like how we got in control due to democrat gun control and then we never repealed a single gun law.

Like you, I support a Republican Administration doing anything it wants.

Repealed any gun laws? Which ones would those have been? Didn't the assault weapons ban die? A bill that sunsets has the same effect as a repeal, doesn't it?

So a person who watches a house fire extinguish itself should be looked upon the same as a person who risks life and limb to put it out? Bush didn't get it on his desk to renew in the fall of 2004 so he had ATF do an administrative rule change to ban imported barrels and receiver for the same complete weapons his father had banned in 1989. Democrats just tag along where we have already advanced.

Wisconsin got concealed carry only because of the tea party because we voted in a whole bunch of conservatives. It wasn't on a national level but a milestone none the less and it was only because of conservatives back by the tea party.

Yes Conservatives support licensing since the privilege can be taken away when desired. Also makes for a great registration list.

What about the Afreakin and Moslem and Mexican nations the dimocraps are building within our borders? We were building those a decade ago. Like everything else, the democrats just grabbed on to our coat tails. When the next Republican gets in, all that stuff will be ok once more. The dims will as usual prevent it from being ok. If anything ReAL positive were done they would take up arms against us. There would be civil war. Decades of brainwashing has warped us.

You know so much about our future oh wise one, and it is all bleak? Please spout more about what will happen so that you may bless us all with your unbridled wisdom. Why are you saying it will be bleak because I mentioned a Republican being elected as President again? He may not be a conservative.

Libs don't have guns... If it came to that, it wouldn't be us against the liberals. It would be us against the government. A liberal won't fight. But they will certainly cheer for those doing the fighting for them.

Yes, initially DHS was a good thing, as was limited welfare, limited ER care, SS, Medicare, etc, until dimocraps ruined them all. Now they are ruining working as a teacher or doctor or in building construction, or timber industry or conservation, or the oil industry or the coal industry or fot Hobby Lobby or making wedding cakes or the internet or the military.
What do they not screw up?
