6/284 30" brux bbl 8"twist . Today shooting 105gr Berger Hybrids seated just off the rifling lands , burning two powders Re# 25 and Magpro . I was getting tight ES in velocities (10'20' between shots) with both powders but poor accuracy in this new chamber( Non neck turning chamber). Others have said Re#22 is the go to powder for this cartridge ?

What does "seated just off the lands" mean? How far? What other depths have you tried? How many different powder charges? What distance are you shooting? What other bullets?

My LR 308 loads are low single digit ES #'s. My stupid accurate 204 load for 200 yards has an ES of 90.

Seated off lands ? Meaning adjusting the seating die to at first contact the lands and giving resistance to ejecting a live round,then adjusting down to till there is no resistance to extracting a live round. I'm assuming .005 off lands.Just had this rifle re-chambered so i'm starting from scratch, so no other seating depths have been tried. with Re#25 started at 51grs worked my way up to 53.0 grs . With Magpro 51grs up to 54grs . Re#25 was 50 FPS faster and 3330 for 51grs to 3375 for 53grs . Zero pressure signs 100yards. Trying to find a load for PD hunting in June . Mostly have Berger 105 hybrids.

Do another workup 10 thou shorter and see what happens to your pressure and velocity.

Just because they are the most expensive doesn't mean they will work in your application.

Your rifle just may not like them. Due to many factors.

Ok I seated bullets .010 deeper and changed powders to Re#22 same bullet 105gr Berger Hybrid for 1st 8 rounds all shot at 130 yards Bottom 3 starting from left was 51grs of Re#22 Middle was 52grs and far rights was a fire form load of 46.2 grs of H4350 pushing a Hornady 105gr HPBT . Why fire form ? This brass was fired in original chamber ( Too tight nothing but extraction problems) So jamming bullet into lands and firing a moderate charge resulted in this group. ( On a side note I was able to hit most full Soda Pop cans at 430 yards with these fire form loads). Top middle group was 52.5grs of Re#22 behind a Hornady 105 A-Max .I like those A-Max loads,didn't shoot through Chronograph today. Zero pressure signs with any and all loads. What do ya'll think ? I have pictures posted on Benchrest central . All my groups today tightened up and A-Max bullets look best.

So far I don't think I care for the Berger's much. Hornady Amaxs shot well today

Bergers are a bit "chickish" in their behavior at times.


I'd try Sierras...last chamber I had specifically cut for a secant ogive bullet made the littlest holes (of course) with the MatchKings....
