That is great.

I'll need to look up white perch, I've not heard of them.

The Chesapeake Bay white perch have a a dark patch along the top of the back running along the dorsal fin. Likely a salt water coloration.

The white perch will run up the rivers of the bay to spawn in mid April by the millions. Great fishing.

Is this different from a crappie? I know the folks down in LA call crappie white perch, but I don't know if white perch is an actual species of its own. Either way, great drawing. I can't even make stick figures look good. I am always jealous of those who can take mental images and put them on media.

We have White Perch here in Nebraska and they are considered a nuisance fish.

I thought those in LA called em Sac a Lait ? Think I'm missing some punctuation there in that spelling.

My Grandfather always called crappie, white perch. He lived his Whole life in Arkansas except for a few years when he was a baby. That was in Mississippi. miles

Yeah, there is not as much variation as a trout, but the big females get pretty dark. The one big thing is how much gold is on them. A lot of room for error there. A small male is pretty white/silver. The first one was pretty green, because I used a cad. yellow/raw umber/black for the green. Switched to an Ultramarine blue/deep yellow for the green, with a bit of raw umber, and it was a lot more controllable for what I needed to do. Heck - they change color as soon as you pull them out! Ended up with a fair facsimile, anyways. Still learning....

Great picture. Looks like what we called a sand bass when I was growing up in SW OK, kindof a mini striper.
