Boyd's Heritage Stock
Boyd's Prairie Hunter Stock

What's the difference between the two?

I'm looking for a Remington ADL stock, but left handed.

If neither of the Boyds stock fit the bill, any recommendations for alternatives?

From the link you provided

"The forend is where the Heritage deviates from the Prairie Hunter. The forend is round in cross-section to allow for the addition of a checkering pattern that wraps around the forend and aids in the grip of the shooters forward hand."

Ah, thanks!

Having never handled an ADL stock, which is closest to the ADL specs?

The Classic is.

Otherwise, the heritage is second., IIRC...

I have several Boyds Prairie Hunter stock and think that the laminated stocks are pretty heavy and bulky, if bulky is the right word to use, stock design, surely not a stock that I would ever want installed on a stalking type of rifle.

OTOH, they are a decent stock design if you're going to sling it and carry it over your should from point to point where you'll being glassing over an open area or if you're hunting out of a fixed stand/blind. Being a lefty certain limits your easy to find and inexpensive to buy options.

260RemGuy,

Looking to build a left handed look-alike of the Vietnam-era M40 rifle:

The USMC Refields were anodized green.

This is true of the laminates as you point out, but I can say from experience that the walnut Prairie Hunters are quite nicely apportioned:

I love the grip checkering on that one. Wood and color are pretty sweet too.

Thanks Ken.

That's standard grade wood & their fleur-di-lis laser checkering. I'm pretty sure that, shipping included, it was <$175.

That's my 12 yo son Samuel's "campfire special" 257 Rob on a turk mauser action. He LOVES it.
