As a very infrequent drinker of coffee, I can no more tell the difference between (regular) brands than I can between different (regular) beers.

A neighbor of mine. Fist class people and a good product. If the wind is right when he's roasting it's unreal. He'll, roast, package, and grind (if wanted) to your specifications.

In regards to blood pressure, and caffeine in coffee.

I am short a few hundred thousand dollars, six years, and some fifty IQ points of a medical degree.

My doctors do not worry so much about the short term kick to blood pressure a couple of cups of coffee cause.

The are concerned about the steady high blood pressure.

Now, if we want to get serious about blood pressure, we can discus sodium.

Richard, you are 100% spot on with regards to sodium. That's the killer for me.

As for coffee Mike. I just have a natural high in the morning and coffee moves me into an anxiety fit. So I pop my HBP pill and drink a ton of water. I'm fully awake inside of 30 minutes.

I watch my parents drink coffee at night and then nod off. I would be awake all night.

Of course, if you do not care for, or about coffee, by all means don't drink it.

About four years back, I shucked over twenty pounds, and still my doc kept me on the pills.

I'm doomed to stay on them till death do us part methinks.

Don't drink it like I used to, but when I do it's gotta be Foldgers. I like it strong and black. None of that sissy coffee for me.

I usually don't drink it in the summertime, any more. I prefer a glass of sweet tea for breakfast, instead.

Since my heart problems began, I pretty much have one cup of coffee in the morning. I mix half decaff with half regular. I still like quality and flavor, and my coffee comes from my friends that own Strongtree Coffee here in Gainesville.

Recent Medical studies suggest that 3 to 4 cups of coffee a day reduce the risk of heart disease and colon cancer. Green Tea is reported to have the same health benefits.

I'd like to hear the thoughts of the Dr's here on the Fire, on their believes of the risks vs benefits.

Richard I like the taste of coffee but it simply amps me up too far. I do like tea but again I go for tons of water in the early AM.

10-12 cups a day would put me on the moon. WOW!

Making coffee is a lot like makin bullets.

I have a favorite blend...

Get out the scales,
6g Peruvian
5g Mexican
2g Guatemalan or Kenya AA
Grind
put in the french press
add 525g of 200 degree water
wait 1 min and stir
wait 5 min and press
wait 5 min and pour
enjoy
strong as hell black as the ace of spades not sure if it'll float a crowbar

maybe I'll start checkin the beans for run-out

Lol well I have something to look forward to then. I'm only 38 and have never been affected by caffeine much. I'm sure though once you get older and less active that may change...

I've got the same problem, even if I just have a cup or two in the morning I sleep very lightly, when I cut my self off for a few days I sleep like a baby.

But, if I get in some good cardio exercise I can have my morning coffee and a good nights sleep.

for years: home roasted, fresh ground, various origins (roasting is pretty simple in the right popcorn popper)

Costa Rica and Cameroon presently

my brewing would be considered "strong". Definitely not see-through coffee.

I like the Costa Rica coffee, as it does not leave a bitter aftertaste that most coffee does. One or two cups a day for me.

For dvdgeorge:

I usually buy HEB (regional grocery chain) brand Premium House Blend. As far as national brands go, I prefer Maxwell House. I've never had anything from Starbuck's that I liked. I usually have two 10 oz. mugs in the morning with 1 1/2 packets of aspertame, 1/2 tsp. sugar, and some powdered creamer. Guess I ain't much of a coffee snob, huh? That's what I like and it's all that matters to me. I'm just not high maintenance.
