So is the JetBoil a consensus favorite? jcolby: There are too many options to arrive at a consensus. There are pros and cons for every choice and a lot depends on how, when, under what conditions, you intend to use the stove. KC

On to stoves; which one(s) to keep, and why?
SVEA 123, pre-R, times at least a couple
Trangia alcohol burner
Thru-Hiker alcohol burner
MSR Pocket Rocket
MSR XGK

Shid, your missing a wood burner. I have a couple Esbit stoves that can burn wood, but yes a true wood burner is missing. Damn it...  Wood burners are a fun sub-category, but if you could only have one, buy and Emberlit. Like Travis, I collect stoves rather than sell. I just keep eye'n and buyin', and have collected way more than I need.........or could justify if I had to. Of your list, I'd for sure keep the SVEAs, XGK and Trangia. Three classics that work every time. BTW, my Jetboil Flash is probably the most heavily used. Very convenient and fast when all I need is hot water.

I've got one too that never gets used, as well as an old Campingaz model. But for some reason I generally don't sell stoves. Like Travis said, they're just cool. I joined REI in 1975 with the purchase of my Svea 123. It cost $11.25 and the membership was $5. It's likely the last possession I'd ever sell, only because of all the memories tied to it. If you want to invent reasons to keep it, the Primus could be tucked in the corner of a trunk with a couple bags of freezedried and teabags for some sort of emergency, real or imagined. The "prepper" community would laud your wisdom... (grin).

America needs to understand that our troops are not 'disposable'. Each represents a family; Fathers, Mothers, Sons, Daughters, Cousins, Uncles, Aunts... Our Citizens are our most valuable treasure; we waste far too many.
