She's turned into a classic non-collectable, but I remember the good ol' daze.

Sure, some nice works of art there, and I can appreciate the work that went into creating them, I also appreciate their history. To me, a rifle or handgun is a tool to be used, not something to display for its beauty. I would have no business owning any of these fine pieces, because I couldn't bring myself to use them in the field.

But, it's nice to know they are out there smile
That's kind of the way I am. I hunt big game with a Savage. It's a tool and a very effective and accurate one. I don't care what it looks like as long as it gets the job done well. I'll be buying a new rifle this spring and it'll likely be a RAR. Inexpensive but very accurate and reliable.

Dang!

Did Elmer have a side gig or did scribing guns pay 'that' well?

Me too. I was in line first. Put me in your will and I'll let you move to the head of the line. My great grandkids will have Julia advertise it as the Corbett's Awesome Ingwe when they sell it.

I wonder how Elmer could afford all those expensive guns. Some were no doubt given to him by firearms companies, but not the expensive English doubles.

Also I wonder why his family waited thirty years after his death to sell them.

Don't blame me. I voted for Trump.

Gunner, rumor I heard from back in the '80s-'90s was that skilled players in collectable arms outdid the S&P by several orders of magnitude. No need to be poor if you do your homework. To a minor degree I've found my own plays in the stock market embarrassing, particularly in comparison to the bank of wood and metal.

OTOH, I'd rather be armed and poor than rich and defenseless. Particularly when it comes to tigers. We have a bunch of them here in Florida ya know. For now they are caged, but hurricanes lurk and as Andrew showed us down Miami way, they can open the cages, and will.

We also have buffalo and other immigrants running amok in high fence operations.

I need that Sharps....

laugh

10-4 on weaponry out performing the SM, I just last week held up a rifle to Wifey and said, guess what we will never loose money on? She grinned real big. smile

Also, if SHTF, weapons and ammo will become the most valued possessions on this planet along with salt and potable water, you can get what you need with them and hold on to what ya got.

And yes, You DO need that Sharps. wink
