I have a few 5 digit Classics (Gxxxxx). Yours would be considered a 6 digit Classic.

When winchester started making the "Classic" Model 70 they restarted the serial numbers at G15000 I believe. The Classic was brought out in 1994.

Where are you getting the information that they started with serial number G15000? I have one that is G10### and another that is a G15###.
I have several more 5 digit Classics but just not that low.

He was wrong on the release date of the classics as well. Some guys just make more mistakes than others...

Again not as in tuned with the classics as the Pre's, but 1992 was a great year. Ah to be 18 again.

Wasn't insulted, just wanting to know where you were getting your info. If there was/is something published, I would like to access it. I too like the Pre-64 and have a few.

Does it really matter in this forum. We'll usually start with a subject and end on something entirely different... laugh
