Way to go Chlin. Week 6 here for me without one cig. Use to get so irritated by the people who quit who made it sound easy. I loved smoking but hated how it made me feel healthwise. First 3 days for me were unbearable. Hot sweats, going outside in boxers in 0 degree weather to cool down, unrelenting pacing, irritated at everything....some of you know what I'm talking about. Started getting a little better each day after that(and I mean a little). By the 3rd week I wasn't thinking about a cig every 3 seconds or having panic attacks at the thought of never having a cig again. Like Chlin, I can smell things I haven't smelled for years and food tastes altogether different. I can literally smell a smoker from 20 ft away right now the smell is so intense.

I'm so happy someone else is where I'm at right now and feels as good about it as I do.

Good job. I quit cold turkey over 36 years ago from a 4 1/2 pack a day addiction. Have not had a cigarette since. If I can do it you can.

Congrats to anyone who can quit.

My father smoked for years and thank God none of us kids picked up the habit. He quit cold turkey in his 60's. I never would have guessed in a million years he could quit. He told me the toughest part wasn't the cigarette itself, it was the ritual of lighting one up after a meal.

[Linked Image],

These helped me quit and stay quit. One of the hardest things about quitting for me was needing something for my hands to do. Handling this Listerine packet helped. Rubbing the smooth bone handles of my small penknife helped. For a while I carried a very old, loaded 25-20 round in my pocket for good luck, and I enjoyed handling it.

I don't enjoy very much sweet candy, or keeping a toothpick in my mouth, or chewing gum, but those things have helped others.

Good for you for quitting. It is harder than people realize who haven't gone through it.

Good job, you have now joined the brotherhood of quitters. grin

You'll have your days but you can do it. You'll get little fatter because food tastes better but it will even out as you'll more energy and breath to chase momma around the couch for exercise.

After smoking for fifty years, yes I started early, I quit smoking nine years ago. I quit cold turkey. Never missed a beat and had no crave. You can do it and feel better about it. What is surprising is how easy it was.

I haven't had one in months.

But I still love the smell of tobacco burning.

I quite about 2 years ago using chantix. Smoked for about 17 years. Of course like a dumb ars. About 3 months ago we were out at the cabin having a good time and I figured I would smoke one. So I'm on chantix again. Hopefully when I quite again I don't EVER start again.

Good for you Chlin. Keep at it. I quit May 9, 2010 after smoking nearly 40 years. It wasn't easy but anything worth doing seldom is. Unlike some others here, I like the smell of second hand smoke from time to time.

Congrats to all the quitters here, both new and old, I DO enjoy a good cigar at times, and being that I'm not a damn lying democrat, I do inhale them.

FYI- I have been vaping (only) for 18 months.
Buying everything to get started cost $105.
The "juice" for 18months, about $80.
I smoked 2packs Winston a week for 40+yrs.
$200 for 18months vaping.
$200+ for 1month Winstons.
