Young’s suggestion to solve homelessness with wolves goes national

Rep. Don Young suggested Thursday that unleashing wolves in some of his colleagues’ Congressional districts might solve their homeless problems.

The remarks, first winkingly reported in a Washington Post blog, came during a House Natural Resources Committee hearing.

Young, seen in a video of the hearing questioning Interior Secretary Sally Jewell about the department’s budget, grilled her on the topics of the topics of federal overreach and predator control about 1 hour and 20 minutes into the recording.

Taking on a letter signed by 79 House members, asking Jewell to protect gray wolf populations, he soon asked if other House members had wolves in their districts.

“They haven’t got a damn wolf in their whole district,” Young said, according to the Post. “I’d like to introduce them in your district. If I introduced them in your district, you wouldn’t have a homeless problem anymore.”

Matt Shuckerow, a spokesman for Young, said Thursday afternoon that the Post had deliberately taken Young’s remarks out of their proper context.

“The congressman spent his time questioning the Interior secretary on a number of things, including a lack of consultation with the people who actually use the land,” Shuckerow said. “The analogy he used was purposefully hyperbolic to drive home the point that these predators have a major impact.”

It could help with that most dangerous of problems referred to as global warming resulting from overpopulation.

Not a twist. They are so damned dumb they took it literally.

Still one would think they would be on board.... There are lots more people than wolves

He just got re-elected blush Besides, I'm sure he'll vote to fund obamacare a few more times.

There were legitimate contenders this last election.

Like whom?

Not anyone with a high degree of electability or the strength to knock Don out.

It seems to me that Don was trying to inject a little humor into the air. The bulk of the wolf savers have never seen or heard one and can't fathom the damage a pack of wolves can do.

As for the homeless,,, why do we have to feel pity or guilt over the them,,sure there is some hard luck stories there but mainly with a little effort a person can lift themselves out of the gutter. The homeless have roots somewhere and probably someone would help them restart if they showed a bit of responsibility.
