Worth a damn? Either? Any preference as to which?

Yes, I would want to kill stuff with it.

Always had a hankering for one as a kid, but never scratched that itch. Still have it, but smart enough now to ask questions as to whether it's worth getting.

They're only 60 bucks. If you always wanted one, buy it. You ain't getting any younger and you don't get to do this life again. If you want to kill stuff with it, get the .22.

Like everything today, they ain't what they used to be. Plastic breech, plastic sights, Plastic pump piston, plastic band joining the barrel and pump tube together. That said, they do shoot pretty decent and are reasonably powerful for an air pistol. There are lots of aftermarket parts to upgrade the plastic bits and increase power.

I've killed a couple cottontails out of the garden with mine. It works ok but shots need to be well placed and fairly close. Anything past 15 yards would be pushing it IMO due to both power and accuracy limitations. Mine is still stock and 5 shot groups hover between 1 and 1.5" from a rest at 15 yards.

Appreciate that. Yours is the .22 or the .177?

Either will do the minimum of what you want. If you are a good pistol shooter you will "out grow" the gun accuracy wise. They will kill small animals close up. Add a $100 to the price and move up to the next tier, then the next, then the next.....gateway drug that is what they are....
Hooked now myself and just stepped into the pcp airgun world. The fun factor of just plinking when and where you want is real nice! Good luck... http://www.crosman.com/custom-shop/ is worth a look at look for the next step up

I need something to whack Grackles and cowbirds out of the kitchen window at about 12 - 17 yards,
Will the 1377 or 1322 do anything that my Beaman 262(?) won't do?
