apparently nightforce only offers a zero set feature on their 5.5-20 SHV model scope. I can find no info or pictures of exactly how the setup works. I am wondering if its just a simple turret cap change that could add this feature to the 4-14 or 3-10 model scopes. anyone know?? my understanding is its more of a jamb nut setup which is fine with me.

The turret on the 5-20 is a taller turret than on the 4-14 or the 3-10... You can not switch them around... The zero set is done by loosening the two Allen head screws on the turret and pushing it down until it stops and then retightening the allen heads...

can you take a picture of it, wonder why they don't just offer the same setup on the other models. I knew the turret is taller does the base of the cap just bottom out against the bottom of the base?

Well so far I have about 1500+ rounds under it... Took it for a few rides on the front rack of the ATV and a long ride in the bed of the pickup on washboard roads and so far so good... It hasn't lost zero yet and it tracks spot on as far as I can tell...

I've shot it from 100-1150 yards and its tracked back and forth without issue... The reticle (MOAR) seems spot on as well... Time will tell but thus far no complaints...

Yes Sir... Thus far it has been... The turrets are not as crisp as the NXS turrets but are audible and as mentioned track well... The size of the 3-10 is much better that the previous SHV's and at just a touch over 20 ozs its not all that bad on a lighter rifle due to its compact size... It appears NF used the same tube they use for the NXS Compact with a different power ring and eye piece...

I am wondering if with shims one can make a zero set on the 3-10, I looked at another SHV today, a 4-14, I thought the clicks were fairly decent, I am gonna buy a 3-10 soon.

My SHV 5-20x56mm Zero Set is not working so well. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be like that but I zero'ed in my rifle/scope. Followed the instruction and tightened the screws with "0" on the mark and pushed down. I was still able to turn pass "0" 2 clicks. Then i tried it again and I was STILL able to turn pass "0", this time 3 clicks. Does anyone know what the heck?

You may have to back the screws out a little more, pull the turret up (to be sure it is totally loose) then push down and tighten the screws while holding down.

I know mileage varies..... but I set all my "Zero Stops" two clicks past true "0". That way I'm not cranking the turret against the stop every time I set the turret back to Zero. Setting it like this... it's still there in low-light, or to save my fumbling fingers.... and, if I'm unsure, it's a simple two click bump to make sure I'm bottomed out.

EHG.... if you're still around.... how does the 3-10 SHV compare to the LRHS 3-12? Seeing as they're about the same general size, and the LRHS weighs 5oz more....

I've seen guys do just that on other brands. Looks kind of funny, but it's the same concept.

One of my buds made one out of nylon on his lathe, pulled the turret, installed shim, and reinstalled turret. Worked pretty slick.

I made this one on my lathe & mill... Since mine has that lil' window that lets you see the reference hash on the turret body, the only real trick is that the ID needs to be a light press fit, such that it cannot turn, or else the window wouldn't work.
