Found a Marlin 27 in 25-20 at my local gun shop. The gun is in nice original shape. Has a nice patina and solid action. I wasn't looking for anything to buy but I really liked the rifle and when the owner said he was consigning it for a friend and he wanted 425 for it I decided to pick it up. I was just wondering if I made a dumb buy or if I made a smart buy. The thing that I thought was neat was that it had a fold up peep site on it and a fold down site on the barrel. I dont know if that makes it rarer or not. Hope I did well on it. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

You did just fine. Googling gunsites revealed that $550 to $700 for that particular rifle are common. Marlins manufactured during that time were of fine quality.
