I was at the local Walmart yesterday and there in the case was one. I was amazed that tubular feed was like a .22 rifle with the bullet going in a great big hole in the front of the tube, instead of in the action and then in the tube like a Winchester or Marlin. I know that I need to get out more but Damn that was cool. miles

Ya know, I did not look at the price as I had no intentions of buying. That is a trap in itself. Too cheap and I would have owned it, and I do not want one, even though they are cool. When I am back there, I will check. miles

Thanks, I have seen the .30-30's in $550-$600 range I believe and American Rifleman did a nice piece on the .45-70....may have been our own Richard Mann

I dig that tube-fed 45-70, but last I heard they had problems with the leever getting bumped open... which requires the action be cycled (i.e. leever can't be closed once bumped open). I'm generally not a leever dude, and understand this can be a problem with some Marlins too, but it sounds like a design issue. Still like the looks of that Henry though.

Great rifle, even better customer service if you ever need it. I have one and mounted a Leupold 1.5x5 on it. So far I only shot it at 50 yards but its a tack driver for sure.
My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

I have the Henry 45-70. It is my favorite lever action. The lever only bumps open if you try to put to many rounds in the tube.
Just a guy.
