Ordered my TRP, which will be here tomorrow. Broomeland Max-Con V is 6 weeks out. Having a bit of buyers remorse/concern...specifically, will the magwell effect concealabiliy? Have CCW'd 1911s before with no problems, but never one with a magwell. Any thoughts or experiences?

Unless you are running at the gungames to me there is no reason for a magwell...most of my dozen 1911s don't even have the magwell beveled....and it seems that the mag somehow finds its way home smoothly...

As to effecting concealability, it will mainly depend on how you wear it and what it is being worn under...

Mag well basically adds 1/4" to the length of your grip. How that affects concealability depends on the holster you choose, how you were that holster, your body build, and your clothing choice.

Take it off, no big deal; the TRP is a very, very nice gun.

Aye. To elaborate a little, unless Springfield changed something, the TRP mag well can be removed from the main spring housing - it's a two-piece design. However, unlike conventional beveled stocks, the TRP stocks are flat on the bottom to fit the mag well and you might not like the look.

I prefer mag wells and put them on any 1911 I plan on keeping around, including Commander and Officer frames.

Yes, it is 2-pc, & yes, you chould change the grip panels but it will be just fine without doing that, just a little funky, as they will be flush with the bottom of the grip & maybe a little sharp without a bevel.

I have a TRP sitting in the safe, but it still has the mag well on it; I don't really see it as much of an issue for carrying, but I still strongly prefer a Bobtail of some persuasion for everyday carry use.

I've come to prefer the bobtail grip on the 1911 Commander I carry almost daily for a CCW.
TRP's are nice pistols and very well made. But I have no use for a magwell on a 1911 for everyday carry.

Yeah, but unfortunately it's the only way a TRP Tactical comes.

I have IWB carried 1911's both with and without the S&A mag well for years with no noticeable difference. If you are using Wilson 47D 8-round mags the baseplate sticks out more than the mag well. Even the steel low-profile baseplate is slightly proud of flush with the well. If you don't like it, just take it off.
