2 things ~

Why did you buy one?

&

Did you give it a fair chance? (because I'll admit there was a learning curve with mine)

RickyBobby,

1) I guess my decision was influenced by BGE owners foaming at the mouth over the "miracle cooker"

2) Yes, gave it the good old college try and went through several bags of lump in the process to form an honest personal opinion.

3) It's a great cooker but I have many years of cooking under my belt with a WSM and recently added a Traeger to the collection with excellent results.

4) The honest bottom line is that I never noticed any marked difference in my cooking experiences with the BGE over the WSM that I've been using for many years as well as the new pellet smoker so I offered it to a friend at a fair price and wish him a lifetime of fun and good eats with it.

5) To a lessor extent the decision to sell was the almost mandatory usage of lump charcoal in the BGE which is almost impossible to find in my area.

6) Please continue to enjoy your blossoming collection of BGEs.

7) It's the cook not the cooker JMHO

8) Now go cook something for your friends and family and please share with us.

Welcome aboard Pugs! Just give me a shout if I can offer any assistance. Hopefully you can get the stench of Swanson TV Dinners out of your new egg. grin

Yes, you should. You clearly need a break from corn likker and below average food. grin

Yes, no doubt. They're affordable and damn good cookers.

Throw in cookers other than offsets like drums, gravity feeds, etc and that bet I'll take. Offsets were great in their day, but there are much better cookers out there now that aren't so heavily affected by humidity and ambient temperature.

You talk about over priced and then mention Klose pits? With the exception of Tuffy winning the Royal this year offsets have been getting their asses kicked by gravity feeds, drums, WSM's and kamado styles for a good while now. You really wanna piss some money away then buy a Klose or a Jambo.

Michael, Michael, Michael, What am I gonna do with you. I guess we need a sarcasm icon because the above was just drippin' wit it.

I have tons of free wood runnin' out my azz so an offset would be fun to run but it's just me and Muttly so that's prolly not going to happen as I'm pretty content now.

Ran a modded Chargriller Smokin' Pro for a season or two but gave it to my wife's son prior to our move to WV. It made good eats.

Horizon or Yoder offset is more in my $$$$$ neighborhood.

Stumps Baby cabinet smoker would be my hands down next purchase but it's just me and dawg. WOOF!!! laugh

Pugs needs to brush up on his negotiating skills !!!
I should have paid him !!!! Used car sales are definitely not in his future. Wouldn't look good in a plaid jacket and sans a belt slacks anyway.
