If you see that guy tell him I liked his book. wink

Tell him I wished I had it grin

Wasn't there another optics book published recently ?

Dave,

He's glad to hear that!

The new optics book came out last fall: www.riflesandrecipes.com.

My understanding is that the large objective scopes are only of greater utility at high magnification in low light conditions. Other than the combination of these conditions, they are just heavier and larger. I own a couple but have never done a comparison with smaller objectives in low light. Sometimes it is difficult to find a higher magnification scope that you want without a larger objective. I like side focus on my scopes and this feature is usually not on 40mm objective scopes. I know there are some but they are scarce. I am very interested in the z5 3.5-18x44 but have not yet developed the justification for buying one.

I have 1 full custom and one 700 semi custom being built right now both for the same cartridge. Just bought every reloading tool and accessory that I could find. Just bought 2 Kahles scopes. I need to chill for a while smile. The builds are not even fully paid for yet. I think the z5 would be perfect on my full custom 280ai.

I might sell my 3.5-10 CS Kahles that have had for a few years. That would at least free up 1/3 or so of the z5 cost, thus making it okay to buy.

A big Amen from the back row!

It is irrelevant what you think. What matters is the TRUTH.

Big time dittos Ringman. That's all the justification needed to purchase a new optic or a new gun.
