Who would you recommend for gunsmith work?

I re barrelled mine from 30-30 to 257RAIR with a Shilen select match #3 in 2012.
It surprised how hard it was to make the extractor relief cuts to match the factory barrel I pulled off.

I talked to a guy who built an 1885 from a block of steel. He reassured me that the extractor relief cuts on the breech are the hardest part.

Maybe he was just trying to make me feel good. I am just an amateur gunsmith and only work on my own rifles.

Dan, it would help if you were more specific about your rifle, whether it is an original or one of the newer Japanese made replicas. Also, just what work you wish to have done.

Not all gunsmiths are qualified or willing to work on the new versions, and there aren't a lot of good single shot smiths out there. The good ones can be picky about what they work on.

Well, there is that. laugh

Original with a double trigger Schuetzen trigger. Need a knock off spring for the lower tang. Don't know it requires fitting, but if that's the case it will head out to CFO for that.
