Found a lefty Model 70 in 338 Win Mag, my dream rifle, and the seller wants a grand for it. It's blued, but the bluing is strong, a few handle marks on the stock, though. Is his asking price reasonable, I just don't see many of these rifles around and I didn't know what the retail on them was. Thanks!

$1,000 is a fair price if condition is good. It would most likely sell for that or a little higher on gunbroker. You can always offer a little less and see what he says but the price is in line.
If it was my dream rifle I would buy and not worry about it because you would not be over paying at $1,000.
Not sure if it matters but I would not sell my 338 m70 for a grand.

Buy it. You're not likely to find for less than that.

Lay 9 Franklins on the table and see if he bites. If not, add a Grant. Remind him that the market for a .338 in Iowa is not all that deep. If he still doesn't bite, add the last $50 and ask him if he has any ammo, dies, or brass to throw in.

I would buy and not think twice if its something you want. You simply cant find em anymore and it might be several years before you run across another.
Post up some pics after you get it home.
Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

All right. It sounds like it's a deal. I'll buy it. Dammit. I'm going broke. Rifles are more addictive then crack.

If it makes you feel any better, the last one sold on GB the first of the month for $1650. Tell the wife you just saved $650 so she owes you one. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=470608364

Lefty Shooters are increasing faster than Good Used Lefty Rifles. Buy It !! ( advice from a lefty) Rich

I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Well guys, the rifle sold the day after I looked at it. I've been too heartbroken to post. That will be one I will regret not jumping on. I'll just have to keep my eyes peeled. Next one I won't think twice about.

I balked and lost a 700 LH 338 topped with a Leupold 3X9 for $600 couple of years ago.
Kinda wanted it as a elk rifle, but am happy enough with what I use now that I am not to sorry.
Life goes on.

I already have a lefty Sako Finnbear in 7mm, which was going to be my one elk gun, but I thought that a classy .338 would look good, too. However, I guess I probably didn't need it that bad. Still wanted it, though.
