Finally got the chance to shoot the new MRC XWR .338Federal that I got from Shortactionsmoker. It is the old style with the bedding block.

Had some old 2 year old reloads from when I had a Kimber in .338Fed so gave them a go.

Wind up and moving off and on at around 10mph. Shot over rear bunny ears and a rolled up sleeping bag on the front.

First at 100yards: 5 went into 1 1/16 and 4 of 5 went into around .75

Second at 200yards. (shots 10-14)

5 went into 1 9/16 and 4 out of 5 into .75

Sure some of the better shooters could beat me, but it looks like those of you in on the group buy should be getting some shooters and I think I'm going to like this one. The Kimber shot ok, but recoil was a little more than I liked. This one is tame in comparison.

The .308 I got for my Son-In-Law put ten 155gr Scenars in about an inch. These were loads developed for my previous .308. The MRC may well be the most rifle for the $ you can get. I am definitely a fan.

Good deal Harry! I have a soft spot for the 338 Federal. FYI -- I ordered that rifle for myself, but kept holding tight to my Ruger. It couldn't have ended up in better hands!

FWIW: these where shot with pretty much load, shoot, look thru the spotter and repeat. This included getting on paper. Longest wait would be the walk out and back to the 200 yard backers. Temps where around 34F.

I have one of their stainless rifles in .350 RM and with the extra velocity one can get with the longer magazine box the extra weight is welcome...

Looks like you have a nice one...but where is the picture of the gun...

Yea, grin my Daughter loved them when she was little and still does when she comes over. Gives her a connection of being back home. Makes her remember, it is OK with me.

Battue when I was a kid I would go to the Hartford Civic Center (Before the roof collapsed) to see Whaler hockey games. In the Civic Center was a Tobacco shop that had that exact Indian at the door. I loved that thing! Very cool you have one.

Thanks to all.

I've taken a bunch of pictures from that spot and those Beanie babies have been in most. I would download them and more than once thought I'm going to catch some chit sooner or later. Later just came. grin

It's all good!!!!
