For those picking up MRC's that want to use a pic rail, I tried Farrell and was pretty unhappy with the fit and design overall. Now, I tried some EGW rails which are a much better fit. The EGW pic rail including screws only weighs 2 ounces vs. 7 ounces for the Farrell, comparing short action rails. Also, the EGW sits much lower.

The only place I could find the EGW rail was through Optics Planet and it took about three weeks from time of order to delivery. So, plan accordingly.

Nightforce Ultralight rings weigh 3 ounces. If you use these, a piece of two sided scotch tape on the inside of the rings is helpful to prevent movement. See my MRC thread in the very first post.

Talley Lightweight one piece rings and bases weigh 3 ounces.

So, the EGW pic rail with NF Ultralight rings weighs 5 ounces total vs. 3 ounces for the Talleys.

These are the only two pic rails that I found that are made for the MRC at this time.

Makes it easier to switch scopes between rifles and the pic rail and rings set-up is more durable than any other set up I have tried.

Jeff, why did you choose the NF rings, and did you need to lap them?

In using NF steel rings, I have never had a scope slip, never had a ring break, and never had the screws back out or come loose. The NF steel rings are the only ones I can say that about. I never had to lap NF rings.

The NF Ultralights, which are aluminum, are still new to me, and I only have a few hundred rounds with them. They allowed to the scope to slip initially, but once I applied some two-sided tape to the inside, they work fine. We'll see how they do for the long haul.

Thanks...I was just about to start looking for a single piece base for mine and you have saved me a lot of time...

Do you have the stock number...is it the same one that is used on the Winchester SA?

Jeff - thanks for the info... so I take it you didn't lap the NF ultralights either?

RJM - I think this is it http://www.opticsplanet.com/egw-montana-rifle-1999-picatinny-rail-scope-mount-short-action.html

I rarely get on here but thought I would pass on some info for you guys. Leupold makes their QRW/PRW Bases (#49838) that work great with any of those rings and we have had really good luck with them. And Burris also makes there Xtreme Tactical Steel Two Piece Bases (#410605) that work great with any of those rings as well! Good Luck, Good Shooting and God Bless!
