Don Julio 1942 and Real are also some mighty fine "sipping" tequila. Dayummmm!!... You've had the Real? Worth it? I thought the Cuervo Reserva de la Familia was spendy but very good, but the Real from Don Julio is on a shelf beyond my reach....

Yes, I have had a few times. Buttery smooth. Sort of a mix of the 1942 and their anejo. Worth it... not to me. Don Julio 1942 is better (and cheaper) IMHO.

My wife and I toured the Porfidio factory in Puerta Vallarta some years ago and we came away with some of their tequila. It was amazing but I'm too cheap to keep buying something that pricey. We kept the fancy hand blown bottles though.
Nowadays Hornitos repasado tastes pretty good to me. As long as it's 100% blue agave it will taste much better than Cuervo and the other rotgut stuff.

I like Sauza brand. It's pretty good, and affordable. Sauza is OK for making Margaritas. Patron Silver is much better for shots!

Best Margarita I ever had was from Ma Crosby's in Acuna Mexico. It's been at least 25 years since I've been down there, and I wouldn't go for any amount of money, nowadays.
