A spring day on the killing fields of the Rocky Mountain Front.

Obligatory fencepost pic.

Took the newly built LVSF in 223 out. It has the dreaded 1 in 14 twist so I had it loaded with 52 grain Amax Hornadys .The bullet is designed for that twist, is extremely accurate and excellent in the wind we have here ( 20 mph yesterday) Burned 300 rounds and ran out blush

But not to fear! I broke out the .204 and continued for another 75 rounds, shooting 40 grain Vmax. The performance of the 204 NEVER ceases to amaze me, and I consider it the ultimate gopher getter.
I am not a fan of posting blown up critters so heres one from last week that was pic worthy to show you the quarry...Richardsons ground squirrels, though I did kill one Columbian ground squirrel yesterday. aka Gophers

Yep, such a day is as much fun as one can have with their clothes on!

We came to Dillon for a few days.. Shot all my .223's I had with, plus some .22's, .220 Swifts, and some .22-250AI.. Sure wish I had some of the .223's sitting at home.. Never thought I would get this much shooting..

I went with blue/black matte trigger guards and McM McM Hunters on my 223 and 22-250 700 LVSF parts guns. I was thinking that the 700 LVSFs in 223 were twisted 1-12", rather than 1-14" like the 22-250s.

So I am OK with my 1:12 AI that PacNor put together for me in 1995? My only experience is on a few hundred west Texas prairie dogs, a couple of handfuls of coyotes and a few javelinas. grin

You are right on the 1 in 12 twist on the .223

Mine is a 1 in 14 cause its punched out of a 221 fireball.

Ah, I see.

Kinda wish that I had a 700 LVSF in .204 Ruger, but gotta settle for an RAR Predator that, so far, puts 'em where they need to be and all for just $380 OTD.
