I have been fishing Canada for over 40 years and have done , drive to lakes, rivers, fly- ins, canoe floats. Have fished in every province.

Looking to take a lady friend to a good fishing lake where decent numbers of pike and walleye can be found. Thinking a remote drive-in or cheap fly in.
in Alberta or another province. Cabins with boat rental

Go a little further East, to Saskatchewan, many more lakes to choose from. Lots of good choices along the Churchill river chain of lakes. Try Otter lake area.

The Meadow Lake Provincial Park in Saskatchewan has a lot of lakes, many of which with cabin and boat rentals. I would suggest Flotten Lake (lots of structure and walleye, but watch for rock piles and submerged islands), Waterhen Lake (bigger water with some bigger pike), Keely Lake (known for walleye), or Canoe Lake (bigger than Waterhen but outside the PP so catch limits are greater).

If you want to go a little further you could try Pinehouse Lake and Kamkota lodge. Lots of walleye there, but big pike numbers seem to have dropped off.

Thanks guys

I fished Meadow Lakes Park area 5 years ago. Caught a lot of small pike and a few nice 6-7 lb walleyes. Only downside was lakes were crowded

Fished Keely, Waterhen Flotten lakes

Otter Lake looks interesting

Canoed the Churchill with Dad back in 1977-Remember great fishing

This looks interesting too

Try Tobin Lake in Saskatchewan. Big pike and big walleye..drive to the lake out of Nipawin.

Reindeer lake at Nordic Lodge is excellent for big Pike, but walleye are a little scarce at times. However you can do well on walleye in one location in a river downstream from the lodge about an hour boat ride. The lake also has lake trout in deep bay, they can add some nice variety. I was there maybe 10 years ago, and I'd go back to Nordic again, even though I have many many choices besides them.

Besnard Lake is good too.

Been there 7 or 8 times.

Great campground and a few different lodges as well.

Red's Camp and Besnard Lake Lodge.

They rent small boats as well although I always haul mine.

Besnard lake is a great place. Spent my Honeymoon there and had 3 other trips that were good. Rates are very reasonable at the Lodge and the guides were always good. I had to drive 70 miles of high quality gravel road to get to it after the turn off fro the nice paved highway. Pike fishing is real good and walleye can be fabulous. May have run into FishN4Eyes up there once as a small group in the next door cabin was from Montana. Good luck-Mike

100,000 lakes and rivers to choose from in our province, does seem a bit overwhelming at times. You made a good choice, have fun!

Good luck!

I think you'll be happy with your choice.

I've had some great trips there.

The last time I was there we caught 2 pike over 20 lbs (43 and 45 inches) and a ton in the 10-15 lbs range.

Perch Krocodiles in 1 oz is my go to lure at Besnard for pike.

Bringing my 10 wt fly rod too. I use barbless hooks on my big pike lures.
