I have a 1927 Ithaca NID double. It was my grandfathers. It is in decent shape, a little 'loose'. I would like to hunt with it. Should I get it restored?

I had Gunter Pfrommer in Rocky Mount, VA tighten mine up and he is one of the best. He's from Austria and has worked at CSMC and I think New England Firearms. His work is excellent and very reasonable. He can do anything on a double. I didn't want any recase or anything light that, just going over it and tighten some looseness in the gun. I highly recommend him.

Thanks very much for the info. I will look him up and see what he recommends.

I had my uncle's 1930 16 redone by a 'smith in upstate NYS; just a stock refinish and checkering recut, plus opening the choke on the right barrel to I/C (both barrels were originally "full and fuller"). Replaced a dead recoil pad with an Ithaca "sunburst" repro. Looks great and shoots great; these are classic guns very over-built--strong as a Ruger!

Surprised yours is loose; never seen an NID shoot loose before.

FNG. Again.
