Due to the health of my father-in-law, I had to cancel my spot with J&D Outfitters for a guided Eastern Plains Colorado mule deer hunt. Spots for this hunt are very hard to come by and I am just trying to help the outfitter fill my spot. I have hunted with J&D Outfitters 5 times and have been 100% successful for mule deer and elk. The owner, Doyle Worbington, is a retired Army Ranger - he runs a 199% honest, quality outfitting service!!

The hunt will take place the first rifle season in Colorado which is October 24th to October 29th... 5 days of hunting these big mule deer.

The website tells everything but the price. I suppose that if you have to ask, you can't afford it.

It is a 1x1 hunt = food, lodging, and everything else is top-notch, I'll vouch 300%!!!!!

I will be honest here, its not cheap...tire kickers & tight asses need not apply...but if you have serious interest at a chance at a big 180-200" mule deer, this is the hunt!!

Prices will not be posted here...if you have serious interest, call and talk to Doyle...everything will be discussed.

Those are some nice mature bucks you posted, you can see some of them have age, but not a one of them is B&C contender..Doubt but one of them would make it even using gross score..just sayin, since you started throwing out score possibilities.

180-200" deer are a real possibility...no guarantees, but the chance to hunt and kill one is there...who the [bleep] are you to piss on my post??

This one green scored in camp @ 193"....what his official score was I don't know, but its way over 180"....this picture does it no justice!!

Wondering why there is a problem of at least posting ball park range of cost. Obviously if you can't pay $4k for a hunt you are considered a tight ass.

I do agree it is a little misleading. if the outfitter is as awesome as you say he should have a waiting list of people who want to hunt and doesn't need you recruiting. just my .02

Wouldn't this hunt also require preference points?

I was wondering if it is a guaranteed tag, or do you need to draw or use preference points?

I would bet you'd have to purchase a landowners tag.

IIRC - application deadline was earlier this month.

Rather than speculating, why not just contact the outfitter if you are interested or leave it alone?

Well sh*t....that leaves me out.

I am going to clarify some stuff:

*First of all I apologize for the "tire kickers and tight asses" comment...it was posted in a joking manner - no harm meant in any way!!

*The hunt costs $6500 plus your licenses...preference points are needed to draw the tag or a landowner voucher can be purchased if you cannot draw.

*I had to cancel due to the health of my father-in-law...he was diagnosed with untreatable leukemia - we came close to losing him at Xmas time. I just cannot commit to a hunt like this in fear of something happening to my father-in-law while I am away.

*I am just trying to help the outfitter fill this spot...due to the costs, needed preference points, etc..etc.... its not an easy spot to fill out of the blue. As I stated, the outfitter is a great guy, and I feel bad about leaving him hanging with the opening I created....I was just trying to try to help, that's all. He is very understanding of my situation and I consider him a friend so I want to assist filling the vacancy.

*As far as the size of the deer out there...score does not mean all that much to me...would I love to kill a monster 200" deer...hell yeah, but there are many things besides a score that make a good hunt!! The potential is there is this area for huge mule deer, but as I stated in a post above, nothing is guaranteed - its hunting!!

FWIW, I've hunted with Doyle before and he's a top notch guide. He worked his butt off to get my bud and I our bulls. Really down to earth fella.

Chances are you prob will not hunt with Doyle himself as he has quite a few properties, but if you do, I must warn you that he is in great shape. That dude can climb mountains like a cat squirrel.
