I hate these things as well. At least you know how to post pics when you get your machine figured out so your ahead of the curve with me.:)
I'm going to the Southern SXS Championship in North Carolina next week and have bought so many M70's it will probably be the first time in 13 years that a shotgun doesn't come home with me.

Dang. I've been patiently waiting for almost 5 hours. Think I'll just go shooting.

I have been waiting much longer than that and it's ok some nice M70's have popped up and come my way. One needs patience when dealing in this age of computers, when they go down they go down harder than a whitetail hit with a 130gr ballistic Tip at 3000fps.:)

I have never been a fan of Barnes bullets. I used them in a 416 Taylor for an Elk hunt. I shot a nice cow at 40 yards and it just zipped right through her with little to no expansion.

How did you know that? I assume you had the opportunity to do forensics? grin

Bullets are bullets and I have good performance on various bullets on various critters but I have had exceptional performance from the 120 TSX (and TTSX) except when the Accubond has delivered. Um, well, and the SST. wink

Now, I have more learning to do since there is a 1948 .30 Magnum Super Grade waiting for me decide on I'll end up on a selection of new bullets to play with soon.

I hit her high in the lungs and it was a long track job. I firmly believe the only reason I found her was that there was snow on the ground and she was by herself. A little blood here and there. She bled mostly internally. Autopsy showed very little to no expansion of the bullet. I would have had better luck with any 270, 06, 338 ect. Granted the 416 Taylor was more than enough gun but I had just gotten it and wanted to use it. I used a 300gr Barnes X bullet loaded to 2400 FPS. With all due respect to barnes this was 15 years ago but it sticks with me.
I have used the Accubond in my 257 Roberts with great success and will be trying them in my 300 H&H and 300 Savage. My 300 H&H is fond of the 165 gr NBT, the deer not so much.

I fully understand about the original X bullet. They tended to perform very well or very poorly and not a lot in between. My experience with the TSX/TTSX has been very satisfactory though.

Strangely, my .257 (An MRC Action with a Lilja barrel)doesn't care for the TSX either and the 110 AB has been my go to bullet for several years. 7x57Steve used the 180 AB in his .300 H&H Ruger #1 on a 6x6 bull last year and it performed perfectly.

There are so many bullets to try and not enough deer season to try them. I love the 7X57 and have a custom gun built on a Sako action and a M70 carbine and have some AB to try in them. I think they are 140's.

I'll give the 110's a go in a 257 Weatherby. The NBT are excellent but I have lost more than one cape with them.

I have never used a Barnes bullet again since the Elk ordeal

There's 2 dates they carve on your tombstone.
Everyone knows what they mean.
What's more important is time that is known
as the little dash inbetween.
