I have finally taken it apart after having bought it 2 months ago. I find that it was sold loaded..2 777 pellets and a powerbelt in the barrel. The breech plug was oxidized as well. I pushed the bullet and pellets out of the barrel and noticed a crud ring near the breech plug and 2 patches of for lack of a better word carbon or rust near the breech area. I cleaned it with a bronze brush and carbon remover and took out a lot of what was there and then had to order JB paste. Last night I used Kroil and JB paste for about 30-40 strokes and removed the last of the crud ring. The 2 patches of crud.rust? were minimized but are still there. Would anyone have any issues shooting this thing after this? I cannot in good conscience sell this to anyone.

I wouldn't hesitate to shoot it. Where the pitting/corrosion is shouldn't effect accuracy and would have to be much much worse to compromise it's safety.

Would not bother me a bit. Shoot it.

I'd bet a bundle that you will be grinning all the way home from the range if you try 200 grain .40 caliber XTPs in Harvester H4540B sabots over 85 grains of either triple seven or Pyrodex RS.

Nothing wrong with selling it either, so long as you reveal the issue to potential buyers.

Goes without saying. If it is safe I will use it , really pissed off at original seller who sold it like it is .

Been there, done that and have more than one t-shirt. I've been buying/selling/trading some of the earlier inlines for a few years and it always amazes me how seemingly knowledgeable shooters turn into dumbazzes when it comes to taking care of muzzleloaders. Stainless ones seem to be especially bad because, "hey they're stainless they don't rust and this new powder says it's not corrosive."
